Guest guest
sri: srimathe srilakshminrusimha parabrahmane namah namo narayana pranamams Chapter 21. Nrusimha Avataram is the avataram that is praised by ALL puranams; ALL bhaktas and poets meditate on our Nrusimhan. Vyasar was very worried and deep in thought, sitting along the Sarasvathi river. Naradar went there and enquired as to what was wrong. When thinking about 'sitha'(sidha?) and 'sintha'(sindha?), and when asked which is superior, we can say that 'sitha' is superior. Sitha means sithai--a bed made with wood pieces! Sinthai consists of the worries that come up in one's heart. In these two, what does it mean when the sithai is superior? Sithai is used to burn the sariram which has no pranan. But sinthai burns even the pranan! Therefore the sithai is much better! Naradar said that having these thoughts is not good and to get rid of these thoughts, Vyasar should write Sri Krishna Puranam. In the Mahabharatam, Vyasar showed only glimpses of Krishna Puranam; Vyasar didn't write about Krishnar explicitly, clearly and in detail. So Vyasar was to write a puranam on His leelais and then his worries will be gone. Srimadh Bhagavatam was created for this sole purpose. Vyasar says that Krishnar is the 'arpudhamana avataram'(magnificient avataram). But the same Vyasar when describing Nrusimhan says that He is 'adhyadhpudha avataaram'!! Rukmini Piraati wrote a letter to Kannan and She calls Him at seven different locations. But not once does She mention the Name 'Krishna'!! Why...? She says, " Krishnan is a liar! King of liars! " and all the Gopis have described Him this way. He is a 'poi avatharam'(avatharam of lies), therefore if I call Him as Krishna, there will be no work done! The Perumal with no lies is Nrusimhan! He is the one who comes immediately and saves when called. So the avatharam that covered Rukmini Piraati's heart is Nrusimha avataaram! :-) Even in Rama avataram, Mareechan calls Raman as " Nrusimha " . Anjaneyar also tells Seetha Piraati, " Amma, why are You crying? Raman will come on my back. He will come like Nrusimhan. " So wherever you touch in Ramayanam, you will see Nrusimha balam. Vishnu Sahasranamam(VS), which is the essence of the Mahabharatam, mentions the Visva sabdam and through that it points out that Nrusimhan is mentioned through Visvayoni--therefore Nrusimhan is the essence of VS. Since VS is the essence of Bharatam, therefore Mahabharatam celebrates Nrusimhan. Nrusimhan is the essence of Mahabharatam! There is a scene in Padmavathi Kalyanam(everyone is most probably familiar with this scene). Thaayar was sitting in the mana arai(marriage area), in Her bridal attire(just try picturing this! what a scene it must be !!!). All the food stuffs were prepared and ready. All the rishis and vidvans were waiting to have the food(agni was the cook!). Then came a question of Whom to present it to! " yaarukku nivedanam pannarthu?? " They ask Bhagavan Himself and He said, " Present it to the NRUSIMHAN in Ahobila kshetram and then it can be eaten " --Srinivasan Himself said this!!! That's why even till this day, Srinivasan has His Hands folded towards Nrusimhan at Ahobilam! Nrusimhan is the one that is worshipped by both Raman and Srinivasan, therefore HE IS PERIYA PERIYA PERUMAL!(HH rendered this during the May upanyaasam) Periaazhvar in His Pallaandu sings " anthiyampothil ariyuvaagi ariyaai azhithavanai.. " ! That time He was ugra moorthi--so no one could even go near Him(except Piraati :-) ) and sing Pallaandu. So to make up for that, Periaazvaar sung it at a later time! Thirumangai Azhwar sings about His beauty at Ahobila Kshetram. He who vanquished Hiranyan resides there. Do you know what Azhvar sees...?? The lions have killed the elephants ate them and saved their tusks! And they bring each tusk one by one to Nrusimhan's Thiruvadi and surrender them by reciting " pranavam Nrusimhaya namah " ! Only in singavel kundram can you see a lion worshipping a Lion!! Thirumangai asks in one paasuram, 'A song which doesn't sing about Nrusimhan, is that even a song? A tongue which doesn't speak about Nrusimhan, is that a tongue? Is it even an ear if it doesn't hear about Nrusimhan?' In Srirangam, there is Kamba ramaayana arangetra mandapam. There, when kambar was about to start yuddha kaandam, he mentioned about Hiranyan's samhaaram. Vibheeshanan gives advice to Raavanan, and says, 'don't do all these bad things! The Nrusimhan who vanquished Hiranyan has come here as Raaman. So don't mess with him!' The people in the mandapam opposed to Kamban because Valmiki did not include this in his ramayanam and they wanted that part to be omitted. Kamban did not know what to do, and then some mahans said, if you could point out the divinity in this, we will accept it. Kambar went in front of AZHAGIYA SINGARS sannidhi and started singing, 'ondre uraikil ondreyaam..'and he came to the part of 'aaradaa sirithaai?'--Perumal who's inside as a vigraha roopi, smiled and nodded His Head, and raised both His Hands saying " I'll accept it " --so He accepted the part of Hiranyan's vanquish! Therefore that part is included in the kamba ramayanam. Look at Nammazhwar's words, " ange appozhudhe avan viyath thondriyavan " . He showed up at the moment of thought and at the exact place and Nammazhwar is in praise of His karunyam. Nammazhwar calls him 'yen singa piraan'(chella per!) and whenever someone recites that pasuram, Nammazhwar has made sure that they think about Nrusimhan! Swami Desikan says " Nrusimha " while looking at Kanchi Varadaraajan! He is in all parts of the world, in everything that exists in this world. But still, He came out of a pillar. He was worried, 'where will child Prahladan point to?' and was everywhere, waiting to get out! In this avataram, there is alot of karunai and dayai just as there is alot of speed! Periazhwar sings aLanthitta thooNai avanthatta ange valarnthittu vaLukeer chinga uruvaai uLanthottu iraniyan onmaarvakalam pilanthitta kaikaLal sapaani... Alanthitta thoon--the pillar was made out of gold and precious gemstones! Hiranyan dragged Prahladan to that pillar and asked him. He couldn't believe that Perumal could be in a pillar that he himself built with his constant supervision. Prahladan asked " why can't He be here? " (very boldly) and from that pillar came our Singa piran! But why did He show up as a lion? Why not a tiger? That's because He will show Himself as how we like Him to be, how we picture Him as. One day Hiranyan asked Prahladan " who is the most saadhu in this world? " and Prahladan replied " This is the most saadhu(pointing to Nrusimhan) " !! Therefore, Bhagavan appeared in that form. Nammazhwar says, " isai paadi paadi kaaneer malgi engum naadi naadi narasinga enru vaadi vaadum ivvanuthale...' Look at his aasai! If he goes to Vaikuntam, Perumal will be on Adisheshan, with one Leg folded and the other relaxed and you will see Him as Narayanan. But Azhwar wants to see Nrusimhan there!! There was a sottai nambi in Srirangam. When it was time for him to go to Parama Padham, all his sishyas asked him, " what do you have on your mind sir? " . He replied, " I've had good Acharya sambhandam, so I will defenetly attain moksham. I will attain the perfect state where I will not be back, I will defenetly go to vaikuntam. But I will go there and see...if the Paramathma residing there does not look like our Ranganaathar, I will come back!.. " !!!!!! Sottai nambi wanted to see Ranganaathar at vaikuntam, the same way Azhwar wanted to see our Nrusimhan there at Vaikuntam! Would anyone go anywhere else after they have seen our Nrusimhan??!!! :-) --Azhagiya Singar Thiruvadigale Saranam Srimathe Srilakshminrusimha divyapaduka sevaka srivann satakopa srinaaryaana yaateendra maha desikaya namah ____
