Sri Anjaneya has a thirumeni made up of Prakriti and not Suddha sattvam unlike our Acharyas and Azhwars. Swami Desikan says in Srimad RTS that Brahma, Rudra etc have both Brahma Bhavana (a desire to attain moksham) and karma bhavana (a desire to enjoy material pleasures). Sri Anjaneya requested the post of Brahma from Sri Rama. He will therefore be entitled only moksham only at the end of his tenure as Brahma. Since he will not attain a Suddha sattvam thirumeni for a period well beyond our lifetimes, we are not allowed to prostrate to Anjaneya. But since we have been told that he is a great devotee of Lord Rama, we need not avoid his sannidhi in the same manner in which we would avoid those of other devatas. In the case of other devatAs we do not have information as to whether or not they are devotees of Sriman Narayana or to what extent. But respects to Sri Anjaneya have to be mental. Physical prostrations to vigrahas is allowed only members of the Srivaikuntha goshti. Mentally ignoring Sri Anjaneya when we pass by his sannidhi will constitute Bhaagavata apachaaram, as Swami Desikan says in Srimad RTS, that even those in preliminary stages of devotion like karma yoga should be respected as a Bhaagavata, i.e. anyone understanding the supremacy of Sriman Narayana over other devatas and offences to such people constitutes Bhaagavata apachaaram. There is therefore no question about respecting a devotee of the stature of Anjaneya. Guest guest
Namo Narayana Following the upanyasam, in the Q & A session, HH Srimad Azhagiya Singar mentioned that a paramaikantin would not worship Sri Anjaneyar who is a stand alone in a sannidhi, i.e it is ok if Ramar, Lakshmanar are present. My question is on a similar line. In Thirukadigai (Sholingur), Lord Narasimhar is in the Periya malai, and in the chinna malai, there is a sannithi for Anjaneyar, along with a sannithi for Ramar, Lakshmanar, Seethai. Since Anjaneyar has a sannithi for himself, are we not allowed to visit and offer our respects to Anjaneyar? Or is it ok, because Ramar and others are in an adjoining sannithi? Also, HH mentioned about the vadamaalai, that people prepare and adorn Sri Anjaneyar with, and later consume. It was interesting to hear HH's comments. It is interesting that we do tend to overlook some points, but the greatness of HH in helping us correct our acts is indeed a true blessing.(So little time, and so much to learn!) I am sorry and ask for forgivance, if i misunderstood HH's comments. Hope members of this group can help me.
