Guest guest
SrI: Dear Bhaktas namO nArAyaNA. Adiyal has a clarification regarding dwadasi. Is this dwadasi (22nd Sep 1999) sravana dwadasi for both Sri Ahobila madam and munitriyam? Because in Narasimha priya, it is mentioned as munitriya sravana dwadasi. Please clarify if Sri Ahobila mutt sishyas should do dwadasi pAranai or should fast (because it is sravana dvadasi). Sita Rama Jayam Praveena nAmni RAmanuja dasi. It is NOT Sravana Dwadasi for Sri Muth sishyaas. It is just dwadasi and must do paaranai at the appropriate time. srimad azhagiya singar thiruvadigaLE saraNam -- adiyEn ramanuja dasan

As per my understanding of astronomy, this depends on two things (1) Your tradition, in this case Sri Ahobila Matham (2) Your place in the world, i.e., longitude/latitude which determines (a) sunrise/sunset (b) moonrise/moonset & tithi © nakshatram This being the case, the situtation in India may be different in Singapore or the U.S. If you are observing these strictly accordingly to the shastras, you have to do the local calculations and then apply Sri Ahobila Matham's traditional rules concerning Ekadashi, sravanam, etc. Without such a calculation, looking at whether it is munitrayam/matham/pancaratra tradition is essentially meaningless, as each of these traditions base their rules on the exact timings of tithis, nakshatras, etc., aligned in the sky at that time. In other words, what you should observe may be completely different from what is being observed in India. Mani
