Dear bhagavathas:

It has been just over a year since the inception of Sri Malola Padhuka

Sevaka Net. It is probably a good time to take stock and renew our

understanding of and commitment to the objectives for which this divine net

was established.

 

Let us begin with stating what our net is not. Sri Malolan Net is not a

Vadakalai Net. It is not a forum for Vadakalais to get together and chat

about Sri Vaishnavam and related topics. The rationale and the objectives

of the net are clearly explained in the “Rules and Regulations” document.

 

The main objective for this net is to provide a forum for anyone who is

interested in learning and practicing Ramanuja Darsanam established on a

firm footing by Swami Sri Desikan. In other words, this is a forum where an

aspirant can be confident of receiving the most authentic information as

given by poorvAcAryas starting from Azhvars, Swami Emperumanar, and Swami

Sri Desikan, all the way to the present day Aacaryaas. The rules and

regulations were developed with this in mind.

 

We now have in excess of 100 members and growing. Many are passive

listeners, and almost all have keen interest in following our sampradayam.

They look to this forum for information true to sampradayam and free of

personal opinions and preferences. This is why the few of us who contribute

articles are required to be as faithful to our acAryas as possible. For the

same reason we ask that speculations, purely academic discussions, and

personal opinions are kept out. Not that all speculative and academic

discussions have no intrinsic value, some probably do. There is probably

lot of value in free form discussion in a proper environment. But it does

not belong in this forum because such discussions can and does muddle the

sampradayic view and distract from the stated objective.

 

In other words, we must not look at this forum as an informal gathering of

Sri Vaishnavas for free form discussions. Rather, we must look at it as a

classroom dedicated for presenting our acaryas’ views. Between presenting

our personal views and risk misleading our members, not misleading the

members must rake priority.

 

Rights and responsibilities

As a member we have a right to raise any genuine question about our

sampradayam without fear or reservation, but with sincere interest to learn

and practice.

 

Those of us who post answers/clarifications must,

(a) take the responsibility to ensure consistency with the views of our

Acaryas belonging to

Sri Desika Sampradayam in India, and,

(b) not express personal opinions that are in contrast to Sri Desika

sampradayam.

 

As members we all are responsible for maintaining a cordial atmosphere.
