Guest guest
Sri: SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha, Dear Bhaktas, Adiyen wishes to share the central message underlying a Krithi composed by Kaimkarya Sri Padma Veeraraghavan, the sister of Sriman Sadagopan Swamin. This Krithi called " Oru Vazhi " set to the ragam Arabhi is in praise of Lord Oppiliappan. The first line of this song is a eulogy of Lord Oppiliappan for blessing us with the doctrine of unconditional surrender to his Lotus feet " Oru Vazhi Kattinar " . The next line of this Krithi reinforces the above message through the salutation " Pala Vazhi uLLa Naalayiram " . The reference here is to the fact that the Azhwars in 4000 different verses sing in unison the theme of SharaNagati to His Lotus feet. It is instructive to keep in mind the inscription " Maamekam SharaNam Vraja " on the Lord's right hand pointing to His Lotus feet. Extremely important for prapannas to note is the use of " Maamekam " , which unambiguously states that the act of surrender must be done only for Lord Narayana and nobody else. In the CharaNam line, Azhwars and Acharyas are glorified as Amsams of Lord Narayana, who have repeatedly incarnated on this earth for the upliftment of mankind. Again, it is important to appreciate this tribute in light of the Lord's assurances " Yogakshemam VahAmyaham " and " Sambhavami YugE YugE " . The CharaNam of this Krithi also refers to the elevated role of the Azhwars and Acharyas in helping one maintain sanity of mind " Manam Kedadai Vekkarar " and ensuring that Prapannas are freed of all fears. The last aspect is contained in the Krithi line " Abhayam akki Vaitthar " . This Krithi also reminded Adiyen of an important message from the Daya Shatakam which is described below. In verse 85 of the Daya Shatakam, Swami Desikan blesses us with a superb Anubhavam of the Vamana Avataram. The import of Swami Desikan's tribute is that the overwhelming Daya of the Lord was responsible for Vamana gracing every sentient and insentient being of the universe (with the touch of His feet) in two paces. The inner meaning is that Brahma performed Sripada Teertham for the Lord during the Vamana Avataram. This Teertham became the blessed Ganges river which destroys the sins of all who bathe in the river, regardless of their caste, creed, sex, attainment or affiliation. In a like manner the " Feet " (Satari Soori or Satakopan) of the Lord out of sheer compassion have blessed us with Acharyas starting from NammAzhwar to our present day Mahans, who help us attain the Lord through the Margam of SharaNagati. Again these Mahans grant refuge to any Prapanna without discrimination. Therefore, these Mahans must be accorded the utmost respect. Swami Desikan eloquently states the consequences of direspecting the Padhukas (Azhwars and Acharyas) in several verses of the Padhuka Sahasram. Please note that this message is not intended to be an exercise in ponitification-Adiyen is neither competent nor capable of this. Adiyen is merely sharing a joyful Anubhavam. Guest guest
Dear Rangaswamy: I am deeply grateful to you for your sharing of your anandhAnubhavam over the Aarabhi Krithi of my dear sister, Kaimkarya Sri Padma Veeraraghavan. All her life has been dedicated to the service of ANDAL and Sri BhUmi DEvi Sametha Sri Oppilaippan. As a Sri ViashNavan interested deeply in ubhaya vedAntham and as one who understands the fine points about Carnatic Music , you have captured so very well the fine points about this Krithi and the Saahithya Vaakhyams that focus onthe quintessence of SaraNAgathi Tattvam of our most compassionate Lord and His AchArya paramparai to which we belong. Many thanks to you for sharing your anubhavam with such powerful insights. I will go now and listen to this krithi again . I am proud to share with you the fact that my sister ahs completed 200 Krithis on Sri Oppiliappan and BhUmi Devi now and five casettes have been released so far by her friends and well wishers . You have the highlights from thoise tapes . 72 of the 200 krithis that my siste rhas been blessed to compose with the anugrahma of the SaraNya Dampathis are in MeLa Raagams . As the Carnatic Music afficiniados can appreciate , only five or six people in the entire history of Carnatic Music have been blessed to complete this ardous task. To the best of my knowledge , Kaimakrya Sri PadmA VeerarAghavan's 72 MeLa Raaga compositions are exclusively on Sriman NaarAyaNan . Thanks again for your note on the Aarabhi Krithi, Sri Bhumi Devi SamEtha ThiruviNNagarAn ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam , V.Sadagopan At 07:18 PM 10/27/99 -0700, you wrote: Sri: SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha, > >Dear Bhaktas, > >Adiyen wishes to share the central message underlying a Krithi composed >by Kaimkarya Sri >Padma Veeraraghavan, the sister of Sriman Sadagopan Swamin. Guest guest
Dear BhakthAs : A samll(major) correction inmy earlier note. 72 of the 200 krithis that my sister has been >blessed to compose with the anugrahma of >the SaraNya Dampathis are in MeLa Raagams . >As the Carnatic Music afficiniados can appreciate , >only five or six people in the entire history of >Carnatic Music have been blessed to complete >this ardous task. THE CORRECTION FOR THIS SENTENCE: To the best of my knowledge , >Kaimakrya Sri PadmA VeerarAghavan's 72 MeLa >Raaga compositions are exclusively on >Sriman NaarAyaNan . The sentence should have read: TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, KAIMKARYA SRI PADMA VEERARAGHAAVN'S 72 MELA RAAGAA COMPOSITIONS ARE THE ONLY ONES FOCUSING EXCLUSIVELY ON SRIMAN NAARAAYANAN . >Thanks again for your note on the Aarabhi Krithi, >Sri Bhumi Devi SamEtha ThiruviNNagarAn >ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam , >V.Sadagopan
