Guest guest
Sri: Sri Lakshminrisimha Parabrahmane Namaha Sri Ramanujaya Namaha Sri Nigamantha Mahadesikaya Namaha SRIMAD BHAGAVAD GITA - translation by Sri.V.N.Gopala Desikan Chapter IV slOkA 11 ye yathA mAm prapadyante tAms tathaiva bhajAmyaham mama vartmAnuvartante manushyAh pArtha sarvashah Translation : ye - Those who prapadyante - seek refuge mAm - in Me yathA - in whatever form aham - I bhajAmy - favour tAn - them tatha eva - in the same manner. pArtha - ArjunA, manushyAh - people anuvartante - experience mama - My vartma - form sarvashah - in all ways Those who seek refuge in Me in whatever form , I favour then in the same manner. ArjunA , people experience My form in all ways. Commentary : In whichever form of Mine, people take refuge in Me, I show Myself to them in that form itself. People experience Me, My form and My essential characteristics , in various ways , according to their desire. So, I not only take the form of dEvAs , men and so on. Further , if they want Me to be their friend, to be their charioteer , and so on, I make Myself available to them in that very form. Thus people experience and enjoy My form in all ways. Sri DEsikA states that worship of the Lord in the temples also , in the archA form , is included in this slOkA. slOkA 12 kAnksantah karmanam siddhim yajanta iha devatAh kshipram hi mAnushE lOkE siddhir bhavati karmajA Translation : kAnksantah - Desiring siddhim - fruits karmanAm - of religious works yajante - (people) worship iha - here dEvatah - dEvAS. lOkE - In this world mAnushE - of men, siddhir - success bhavati - occurs kshipram hi - soon karmajA - from the religious works. Desiring fruits of religious works, (people) worship here dEvAs. In this world of men, success occurs soon from the religious works. Commentary : People here are only interested in worldly desires like sons, cattle, food or svargA. They want quick results. They perform rituals, which consist of worship of IndrA and other dEvAS, for obtaining such desires like sons, cattle, food or svargA. But no one feels distressed at this samsArA of births and deaths. No one desires for final release or mOkshA. So, they do not worship Me, who am the soul of indrA and other dEvAs; giving up all attachment to fruits. This is because they do not gain proper knowledge , due to their endless accumulation of sins, from time immemorial. So, they do not undertake karma yOgA of the kind taught by Me so far, as a form of My worship. adiyEn, senthil (Courtesy : Sri Visishtadvaita Research Centre)
