Translation of Paaduka Sahasram by U.Ve. Sri V.N. Vedanta Desikan

Swamin:

 

106. BhaktyA param Bhavatu tadh Bharatasya sADhO:

thvathprArthanam raGhupathoU maNipAdharakshE!

kEnashayEna sa muni: paramArThadarshI

BhadrAya dhevi! jagathAm BhavathImavAdhIth

 

Oh Paaduka Devi! Or let it be that Bharata, a Sadhu, had asked for You

to be given out of pure devotion, not on the basis of a consideration

of Your burden-bearing ability. How did that great seer (Vasishta), of

decidedly perceiving wisdom, pronounce that You will be for the wealth

and welfare all the worlds?
