Guest guest Posted December 15, 1999 Report Share Posted December 15, 1999 Sri: Sri Lakshminrisimha Parabrahmane Namaha Sri Ramanujaya Namaha Sri Nigamantha Mahadesikaya Namaha SRIMAD BHAGAVAD GITA - translation by Sri.V.N.Gopala Desikan Chapter IV slOkA 21 nirAshir yata-chithAtmA tyakta-sarva-parigrahah sAriram kEvalam karma kurvan nApnoti kilbisam Translation : nirAshir - Free from desire, yata-chithAtmA - controlling intellect and mind, tyakta - giving up sarva-parigrahah - all possessions, kurvan - doing kEvalam - only karma - actions sAriram - pertaining to the body, na Apnoti - (one) does not attain kilbisam - the sin (of samsArA) Free from desire , controlling intellect and mind , giving up all possessions , doing only actions pertaining to the body , (one) does not attain the sin (of samsArA). Commentary : A person should not have any desire for fruits (as already stated). He should have his mind and buddhi (intellect) firmly under control. He should give up the feeling of possession and ownership , in regard to the material objects which he possesses. Such a person does not incur any sin. He does not get involved in samsArA; by doing work, necessary for maintaining the body and the like.
