SRIMAD BHAGAVAD GITA

Chapter IV

slOkA 25

 

daivam evApare yajnam yoginah paryupAsate

brahmAgnAv apare yajnam yajnenaivopajuhvati

 

Translation :

apare - Some

yoginah - yOgis

paryupAsate - do

yajnam - the yajnA

daivam Eva - of worshipping the God;

apare - some others

upajuhvati - do hOmA

yajnam - with the havis,

yajnena eva - by the instrument of yajnA

brahmAgnav - in the fire which is Brahman.

 

Some yOgis do the yajnA of worshipping the God;

some others do hOmA with the havis, by the

instrument of yajnA in the fire which is Brahman.

 

Commentary : There are nine kinds of karma yOgA.

 

1) Some people do the karma yOgA in thee form of worshipping

the Lord, by reciting the stotrAs and doing archanA with

tulasi and flowers.

 

2) Some people do the yajnAs , by doing hOmA of the havis in

agni(fire), as prescribed in the sAstrAs.
