SRIMAD BHAGAVAD GITA

- translation by Sri.V.N.Gopala Desikan

slOkA 31

yajna-sishtAmrta-bhujo yAnthi brahma sanAtanam

nAyam lokosty-ayajnasya kuto-nyah kuru-sattama

Translation:

bhujah - Those who eat

amruta - the nectar

yajna-sishta- of the remains of yajnA

yanthi - attain

sanAtanam - the eternal

brahma - jivAtmA.

kuru-sattama- Arjuna( best among kurus),

ayajnasya - to one who does not do yajnA,

ayam - this

lOkah - world

na asty - is not there.

kutah - How then

anyah - the other world.

Those who eat the nectar of the remains of yajnA attain

the eternal jivAtmA. Arjuna( the best among kurus), to

one who does not do yajnA, this world is not there. How

then the other world ?

Commentary : After doing these yajnAs, they eat amritA of

remaining food and do karma yOgA. They then realise the true

nature of the soul, which has the Brahman as its inner soul.

A person who does not do the daily rituals (nitya

and naimittika karmAs) and pancha mahA yajnA, does not even

get dharmA , arthA and kAmA ( good conduct or virtue, wealth

, desires). When he cannot get wealth and other material

pleasures even in this world; there is no question of his

getting mOkshA.

balaji.

AdiyEn can't think of anythig other than mundane wealth and

material pleasure. Can some bAgavathAs explain what is the

real meanings of this wealth and material pleasures a bAgavathA

should have enjoyed before attaining mOksham?.

Reagarding wealth, it could be wealth of knowledge about

about Sriman Narayana or (material) wealth to perform nithya,

naimithya and kamya karmas, etc. (please correct if adiyEn is

wrong). Where as the material pleasure, a true bAgavathA would not

even think of any material pleasure other than Sriman Narayana's

pleasure. AdyEn is little confused about this. AdiyEn would realy

appriciate if bAgavathAs straighten this confusion.

Thanks
