An Acharya called Alavandar went to see the yogi who could bring Bhagavan

stand in front of him. When Alavandar arrived, the yogi was in deep

meditation, so he decided to wait and sat behind the yogi. At that time,

Bhagavan switched and looked away instead of looking at the yogi; this shows

that Bhagavan was looking at Alavandar. The yogi's meditation was disturbed

because this was the first time that Perumal took His eyes off the yogi and

looked elsewhere. Then he asked loudly if there was anyone from sottai

nambi's lineage. What is the meaning of that question?

Perumal has much abhimanam towards Sottai Nambi's family(sottai nambi is the

son of Nathamuni). The yogi concluded that unless there was someone from

sottai nambi's lineage, there was no way that Perumal would look away. The

yogi was right, because Alavandar is Nathamuni's grandson. Do you know what

Alavandar said as soon as Perumal saw him...? He mentioned that he is very

young, but not to look at him physically. He only asked Bhagavan to bless

him because of his grandfather. Usually in this world, we are asked to

leave all bondage and leave samsara; but in circumstances like this one that

Alavandar is in, we accept that bondage with Acharyan only helps us.

If we have Acharya sambhandam, we can attain even the highest states. If

you are a punyathma or pavathma, only if you have Acharya sambhandam will

you attain the highest state(moksham). At one time, there was a man called

kshatrabandhu; his profession was to steal. He used to steal from everyone

and give it to his family and people. One day, Naradhar came along his way.

Naradhar said, " you take along all these goods in bags and give it to your

wife and peoples...but you also carry along another bag, do you know that? "

Kshatrabandhu looked at Naradhar up and down, and became confused. He asked

what the other bag was, since he has never seen it. Naradhar replied, " this

bag cannot be seen, it is a bag called pavam! You give all those bags to

your wife and kids, do you know that you also pass along the pava baggage to

them? Go and ask them if they are willing to split the pava baggage with

you. " So Kshatrabandhu agreed to ask them and left.

Now, we should be wondering...kshatrabandhu has committed many sins, he's a

dhurathma, how can he be so patient in listening to the wise words of

Naradhar? First he has to listen, then he has to go and perform that

act...now is this possible?

The dharshan of sadhus and mahatmas can change any individual, no matter how

many sins he/she has comitted. In a second, kshatrabandhu realized his

mistake and went and asked his wife and kids if they were willing to split

the pava bag with him. Ofcourse, they said that they couldn't split that

baggage. Then he came back to Naradhar and asked for the upadesam of

Narayana mantram and then attained moksham!

Would he have been so lucky if he didn't have Naradhar's acquaintance?

There was a Pundareekar. He wanted to know where he can find

Ananthapadmanabhan and people replied that He could be found on the ocean.

So Pundareekar immediately went to the ocean and started walking into it!

The water filled upto his neck and he realized that he couldn't go any

further. So he thought of emptying the ocean just to see

Ananthapadmanabhan; so that's exactly what he started to do. Then Naradhar

came and helped him; Naradhar told Pundareekar to stop what he was doing and

follow him. And Naradhar took Pundareekar to

Thirukadanmallai(mahabalipuram). Pundareekar was astonished to see Perumal

there! Perumal there looked as if He was saying " welcome " to all the

devotees. Pundareekar, who was now completely immersed in that Perumal,

performed archana with a thousand lotus pushpams. Naradhar helped a person

who was going on a crooked path and even took him through a short cut.

Therefore, it is evident that one can attain any high state if they have

acharya sambhandam.

Sukrachariyar was one of the acharyas who helped people attain high states.

He could even reawaken the dead!! We usually say 'sukra desai'(in

astrology) and during that time, the person usually gets all sorts of good

things such as promotions. It is a very good time. The same way, the

person who has Sukrachariyar as an acharya gets all kinds of good things.

He knew all the mantras and one of them is called sanjeevini mantram. This

is the mantram that Sukracharyar 'specialized' in. Even Bruhaspati did not

know this mantram--this mantram is used to reawaken the dead.

Now, we might have a doubt here. If reawakening the dead is possible using

one mantram, then the people who know the mantram could make this their

profession and eradicate the fear of death. Instead of giving upanyasams

like adiyen is giving, one might go and do this useful thing. But we have

to note one important thing. Even though many knew the mantram, it only

worked for Sukracharya! It did not work for anyone else. Why...?

Sukracharya went through many hardships to master that mantram. If we try

to recite the same mantram now, it will be evident that we do not have the

capacity to recite it. In a yagam, Indran is usually called forth using

" Indra AchrAvAyA.. " ; if this is recited three times and he does not come

forth, the yagam should be ended! This is because, if one recites the

mantram with their whole heart, Indran will defenetly show up. If he

doesn't we did not call him with all our might.

Devadais will come forth if great mahans and bramha vithus call forth.

Since Sukracharya was a great mahan, he could master the mruthu sanjeevani

mantram and practice it. Not only that...there is a yagam called visvajit.

Sukracharya sat down the master and performed this yagam. What surprise!!

From the homa kundam in the yagam, out came a bow, arrow and different

weapons! " You will attain a higher state with these " were the words that

Sukracharya said and gave the weapons to Bali chakravarthi. Mahabali ruled

devalokam using those weapons! He obtained the power to make even the

devadais shiver due to Acharya sambhandam!

Srimad Azhagiya Singar thiruvadigale saranam.
