Following is the appeal from " The Gem-Set PAndiyan Kondai Kainkarya Committee " , regarding the project for adorning Lord SrI VeerarAghavan of thiru yevvuL (thiruvaLLUr) divya dEsam, with a PAndiyan Kondai(crown). This kainkaryam has been taken up especially for the growth of our sampradAyam, mainly in terms of the development of more number of vidvAns and make the people understand tattva, hita, purushArtams properly and adopt the SaraNAgathi mArgam to attain PerumAl's Lotus feet for performing eternal kainkaryam, which is indeed the true lOga kshEmam. We know that, it is finally Bhagavad Sankalpam that will fulfil this desire of us and not that we by ourselves are the ones who propagate the sampradAyam etc. This PAndian Kondai will be made as a small token of gratitude (with sAtvIka tyAgam) to PerumAL for receiving His blessings and pray towards Him for His favourable sankalpam. This is also His sankalpam only. This project initiated by SrI K.G.Krishnan, marks the initial phase of the overall scheme of projects like publishing/ reprinting the various books of AchAryAs, encouragement to vaidIkAs by providing more oppurtunities for them etc, for the spread of our sampradAyam. SrImad Azhagiyasingar, the patron of this kainkaryam, has given His divine blessings through His SrI Mukham and has made an appeal to the devotees for participating in this kainkaryam and receive the blessings of Lord SrI VeerarAghavan. Out of the estimated cost of Rs.20 lakhs, Rs.15 lakhs have already been donated by the devotees. The Committee Members for USA, apart from adiyEn, are as follows: 1. SrI Dileepan Parthasarathy. 2. SrI Sadagopan. 3. SrI Raghavan Rajaji. 4. Smt Nagu Satyan. Tel:483 46 66, E-Mail : kgk 1. The temple of Lord SrI VeerarAghava at Tiruvallur is one of the most important of the 108 Vaishnavite Diya desams. The glory of the Lord has been sung by Thirumazhisai Alwar and Thirumangai Alwar. Tiruvallur is situated about 45 Km from Chennai. Lord Sri Veeraraghavan is well known as " Vaidya Veeraraghavan " , blessing the devotees by fulfilling their prayers for cure from physical ailments, blessing childless couples with children and providing peace of mind to every one praying at His feet, apart from spiritual benifits. 2. The temple with its rich heritage follows a hoary tradition and conducts nithya kAla poojAs and festivals regularly throughout the year. Two BrahmOthsavams are conducted in a year in the Tamil months of Chithrai and Thai. Lord Sri Veeraraghavan is adorned with various jewels and kireetams on these festive occasions. 3. Sri VeerarAghava Kainkarya Sabha, Tiruvallur is an association formed by humble devotees and has been contributing to the activities of the temple in its own way during the last 26 years.Sahasra KalasAbhishEkam to Lord Sri Veeraraghavan and His consort Smt Kanavalli, was performed last year in a grand manner to coincide with the silver jubilee of the sabha. Thanks to the spontaneous support of Sri K.G.Krishnan and all devotees and asthikas. At the conclusion of the Sahasra KalasAbhishEkam, Sri.K.G.Krishnan as president of the Sabha proposed his desire to donate a rare crown to Lord Sri Veeraraghava and the Sabha members overwhelmingly accepted and endorsed it. Born out of this deep desire is this divine venture to make and offer a Gem-set Pandiyan Kondai to Sri Veeraraghava. 4. His Holiness Srimad Azhagiasingar, Sri Lakshminrusimha Divya PAdukA SEvaka SrivaN SatakOpa SrI nArAyaNa Yateendra MahAdESikan, has given His Blessings and extracts from His Srimukam (translation of the original as appeared in SrI Nrusimha PriyA, Oct 1999) are given below : “Just like parents enjoying the sight of their children wearing glittering jewellery specially made for them, devotees who virtually treat the Supreme Lord as their child derive immense pleasure to adorn Him with rare and beautiful jewellery. In the same way many devotees who see Lord Veeraraghava as their child have a great desire to enjoy His darshan wearing a special Kireetam called Pandiyan Kondai similar to the one adorning Lord Ranganatha, Srirangam. The golden Kireetam will be embedded with high quality gemstones like diamonds, rubies, emeralds and so on and is estimated to cost Rs.20 lakhs. This divine task can be easily accomplished by the dedicated efforts of His devotees. On hearing this itself, my mind desires for the completion of this wonderful Pandiyan Kondai at once and worship Sri Veeraraghavan adorning it. 5. Sri Veeraraghava Kainkarya Sabha has ventured on this enormous task with Srimad Azhagiasingar as Patron and relying fully on the devout support and enthusiasm of aasthikas and devotees of Lord Sri Veeraraghava. The crown will be made using pure gold weighing approximately 2 kilograms. Besides, high quality gems like diamonds, rubies, emeralds, etc. weighing about 3000 carats will be extensively used in making this glittering crown to make it truly a unique piece of jewellery. Sri Veeraraghava Kainkarya Sabha has made the initial contribution of Rs.1 lakh. The president of the Sabha Sri.K.G.Krishnan has readily given a donation of Rs.2 lakhs from KGK family to start with. 6. In order to complete this divine venture successfully, the special committee has proposed the following actions: (i) Sahasranama Archanai for the Divya Dampathis Sri Kanakavalli Thayar and Sri Veeraraghava PerumAL during the ensuing Navarathri festival in October 1999. It is proposed to perform Sahasranama Archanai in morning and night between 15th and 18th October 1999. Each Archanai ticket will cost Rs.101/- and all asthikas and devotees are requested to contribute liberally by performing a number of archanas in the names of their family members, friends and relatives and facilitate collection of large funds for this very special cause and receive Sri Veeraraghava’s Blessings. (ii) The committee members also make a humble appeal and solicit donations of large amounts from philanthrophists and devotees for making this Gem-set Pandiyan Kondai. (iii) The committee also greatly appeals to devotees to contribute in kind by donating in the form of 24 carat gold of 5 to 25 grams or by way of old jewels or gem stones like diamond, ruby, emerald etc., or the equivalent value thereof. The gold and gemstones donated will be used in making the Pandiyan Kondai and be a permanent feature in the crown. 7. It is only with munificent donations from devout worshippers of Sri Veeraraghava that such a great divine task can be completed in a short span of time. It is our intention to offer the Kondai to Sri Veeraraghava by April 2000 during the Chithrai Brahmotsvam. In view of the enormous nature of the task the members of the special committee make this earnest appeal to devotees at home and abroad to liberally contribute by taking as many Sasranama Archanai as possible and also donating large sums in cash and by way of gold, old jewels, ornaments and gemstones. We are sure our appeal will be met in plenty and we will complete the divine task successfully with the total support of all devotees and receive the plentiful blessings of Sri Veeraraghava. 8. Payments by cheque or draft may kindly be drawn in favour of THE GEM-SET PANDIYAN KONDAI KAINKARYA COMMITTEE payable at Chennai and sent to the Secretary at 11, Hasthigiri Street, West Mambalam, Chennai - 600 033, INDIA.
