Guest guest
SrimathE RaamAnujAya nama: (153) varshANi thAni vrushaLO na tapAmsi thEpe na kascchidhapi mruthyuvasam jagAma raajyE thavAmbha ! raghupungava PaadharakshE ! naivAparam prathividhEyam abhUth prasaktham Translation by U.Ve Sri VedAntha Desikan Swamy *********************************************** Oh Mother PaadhukA ! That Your reign was superior even to RaamA's reign follows from the facts that during all those years of Your reign , no member of the fourth varNA even performed penance; no young boy died prematurely; no untoward incident ever occured warranting a ritual atonement . Special Notes By V.Sadagopan (V.S): ************************************ (1)Sri UtthamUr Swamy's anubhavam: Here Swamy Desikan points out to the special glory of the fourteen year long rule of Kosala dEsam by the Lord's Paadhukais. He says: " When You ruled , there were no inauspicious events such as the penance undertaken by unauthorized persons, untimely death of children , invasion by foes et al . There were no ills to react against and correct .Unique indeed is Your glorious reign ! " . (2) Srimath Andavan's anubhavam: The inner meaning is that there may be some inauspiciousness(Sodhanais) for those who seek out the Lord. There will however be none for those , who seek refuge at the feet of a SadAchAryan . (3)Swamy Desikan says: " Raghu Pungava PaadharakshE ! tava rAjyE --aparam prathividhEyam prasaktham naivAbhUth " . Here Swamy addresses the PaadhukA as those of Raghupungavan. The naamam Raghupungavan is synonomus with RaNa Pungavan created by Swamy Desikan in his ParamArtha Sthuthi to salute the Vijaya Raaghavan of Thirupputtkkuzhi dhivya desam. RaNa Pungavan means one with superior valour in the battles . The valour of the Paadhuka is even more notworthy in that it nips off in the bud potential troubles . Therefore , there is no need for it to take countermeasures ( prathividhEyam ). There is not even a " prasaktham " (connection ) to such countermeasures . Such is the glory of the PaadhukA Raajyam , which went beyond the glories of the Raama Raajyam !..V.S
Guest guest
Sri: SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha, Dear Sriman Sadagopan Swamin, Thank you very much for the uninterrupted continuation of the Padhuka Sahasram Kaimkaryam. In the January 1999 tele-Upanyasam, H.H. Srimad Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami used this very shlokam to point out the greatness of the Padhukas. H.H. briefly summarized this shlokam and added that after the coronation of the Padhukas, three other Pattabishekams followed. These were the coronation of Sugriva, VibhishaNa, and Lord Rama himself as Sethurama (upon completing the construction of the bridge across the mighty ocean). H.H. pointed out that the last instance is not widely known and is succinctly stated in one shlokam of the Valmiki Ramayanam. Indeed if one reflects on the glory of the Padhukas, prior to its installation on the throne of the Ikshvakus, a coronation (that of Lord Rama) came to a screeching halt. It was only after the Padhukas were consecrated on the throne of Ayodhya, the previously halted coronation of the Lord himself took place. The additional insights from the Anubhavams of U.Ve. Sri Uttamoor Swami, Periya Ashramam, and your own observations are a delight to read. Thanks again for stimulating these invigorating thoughts and bringing to focus the greatness of the Padhukas and our SadAcharyas, who continue the glorious tradition of the Padhukas.
