For the sishyAs of SrI Ahobila Mutt ie. sannidhi sishyAs, it is not a " Sravana DwAdasi " vrattam on March 3rd. So, they have to perform the dwAdasi pAranam as usual. However, Munitraya sampradAyam sishyAs have to observe upavAsam on March 3rd, since according to their calculations, it happens to be a day of " Sravana DwAdasi " vrattam. SrImad Azhagiyasingar has discussed about Sravana DwAdasi in his aahnika commentry. It contains some detailed analysis reg. the importance of Sravana DwAdasi Vrattam, pramAnam for that vrattam, determination of the day of observance etc, based on various pramAnams. > adiyen also want to know the background of observing upavasam on sravana > dwadasi. Does this applicable only to srivaishnavas? How about madhvas > and gaudiya vaishnavas? Whether smartas observe sravana dwadasi? Since this vrattam is stipulated in Smrutis, it has be observed by anyone accepting it. MAdhvAs do observe it and so also some of the smArtAs. This information was given by a vidvAn here at chennai. adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan, ananthapadmanAbha dAsan, krishNArpaNam.
