Even if you are the greatest sinner among all sinners, you will cross all sins by the boat of knowledge. Commentary : Even if you are the worst sinner, you will conquer all your sins previously accumulated, with the help of knowledge relating to the soul. This knowledge is the boat , by which you will cross over the ocean of your sins. Here the past sins or karmAs are compared to an ocean. This is because the sins are vast and infinite and they accumulated from time immemorial, just as ocean is unbounded and is existing from a very very long time. adiyEn, balaji (Courtesy : Sri Visishtadvaita Research Centre)
