CD ROM kaimakryam for AzhwArs and the 108 Dhivya Desams: Status report

Many thanks for your generous support of

both the ThridhaNdam Replacement for SriperumbhUthUr

Udayavar's archA moorthy and the CD ROM kaimkaryam

on the Life & Works of AzhwArs /108 Dhivya dEsams .

 

AdiyEn is pleased to report the status of the fund raising

pledges on this fifth day after the announcement of these

two sacred kaimkaryams :

 

(1) The Silver ThridhaNdam replacement kaimkaryam :

 

The target was $500 . We have now received pledges

for Six Hundred Dollars. This kaimkaryam is more than

fully subscrbed now . The Silver Smith will be visiting

Sri PerumbhUdhUr to take measurements of the current

ThridhaNdam next week .He will start the work on

replication for samarpaNam , if at all

possible around the Thirunakshathram of

AchArya RaamAnujA . ADIYEN'S SINCERE THANKS TO

EVERY ONE OF YOU , WHO HAVE COME FORWARD TO

PARTICPATE IN THIS KAIMKARYAM .THIS CAMPAIGN

IS CLOSED NOW.

 

(2) We have received pledges totalling $2,500 sofar

for the AzhwArs CD ROM & Dhivya Desam project .WE ARE

NOW AT THE HALFWAY MARK OF THE NEEDED $5,000 .

 

There are 25 more $100 slots left for particpants. It will be

a blessing , if we can have the rest of the required funds

before the Sri Raama Navami day (April 12 ) . You are

welcome to contribute in US Dollars or in Indian

Rupees . The individual pledges have ranged from

$35 to $250 . If 25 BhakthAs pledge 100

each , we can initiate the kaimkaryam on

Srirama Navami day in India .All of you have

great reverence for the Sri VaishNavite AzhwArs ,

their dhivya Prabhandhams and the 108 dhivya dEsams that

they have performed MangalasAsanams . Please help

with your pledges to have the educational outreach

on the Life and works of the AzhwArs . Excellent

graphics , video clips and photo images and audio

clips will constitute the content besides a lot of

informative texts . Thank you most sincerely for your

participation to make this kaimkaryam a success .

 

It is my pleasure to include one of the many moving

Paasurams of the AzhwArs here.The AzhwAr is NammAzhwAr

and he is performing MangaLAsAsanam for ThiruvenkatamudayAn .

The paasuram is ThiruvAimozhoi Sixth decad , second one.

NammAzhwaar cries out in the fourth line of

this paasuram :

 

" AaRA anbil adiyEn unn adi sEr vaNNam aruLAyE "

 

The text of the translation of this moving Paasuram

by Dr.V.N.VedAntha Desikan is as follows:

 

" Oh Lord of Thiruvenaktam ! You wield the chakram

that can pierce with unimaginable (fiery) fury to fell ,

the cruel asurAs to pieces and particles , and to dust

and unidentifiable earth even . You are the King of

Gods (SarvEsvaran).The muddy ponds on Your hill

hold up arrays of red lotuses , almost filling

the whole surface , giving a picture , to the viewer ,

of so many fires , as if reflected on the water from

your halo as the Lord of superb splendour. MY LOVE TO

BECOME YOUR SERVANT IS UNQUENCHABLE. I CAN NOT FORBEAR

THIS STATE OF WAITING FOR LONG . PLEASE GRANT A COURSE

SO AS TO MAKE ME REACH YOUR FEET. JUST GRACE ME

TO THAT EFFECT. "

 

The beauty of the Tamil words defy translation :

 

" ThirunEmi valavaa! DhaivakkOmAnE ! sERAr sunait

thAmarai senthee malarum ThiruvEnakatatthAnE ! --

adi sEr vaNNam aruLAyE! "

 

In this proposed CD ROM , we hope to weave in tightly

the selected text , images, audio and graphics

along with the quizzes and limited videos of uthsavams

at some of the dhivya dEsams . The goal is learning

about our dear AzhwAr's mystic anubhavams .

This would be the second in the series of

CD ROMs designed and developed under the auspices

of the International RaamAnujA Society .

 

Please particpate and help realize this dream

of educational outreach on Sri VaishNavam for

BhakthAS of all geenrations.
