Sri:

Dearest Sisters and Brothers,

Today is Madhurakavi AzhwAr Thirunakshathram. AdiyEn would like to enjoy

AzhwAr’s gem (the packed) KaNNinun chiRutthaambhu. These 11 pAsurams of

Madhurakavi’s on his achArya- NammAzhwAr- are the link for us. The chanting

of these 11 pAsurams- 12000 times by Sri Nathamuni, blessed him (and us)

with the entire Naalaayira Divya Prabhandham, presented to him by

NammAzhwAr.

Madhurakavi declared that there is no other God that he knows of, other than

Sri SatagOpar- NammAzhwAr. (dEvu maRRaRiyEn..)

Here let us look at the beauty of his words.. and anubhavam.

… periyavaN kurugoor nagar nambhikku aaL uriyanaay “adiyEn” peRRa nanmaiyE..

He says.. “adiyEn is blessed to obtain the grace of Kurugoor Nambhi..”

Next pAsuram AzhwAr says.. ‘annaiyaay atthanaay “ennai” aaNdidum thanmaiyaay

saTagOpan “en” nambhiyE..”

Here AzhwAr uses the word “en” (not adiyEn..). Why? What I could think of

and enjoy is: AzhWar is proud that Sri SatagOpar belongs to him and he is

“his” achAryan, his mother, his father.. his perumaan. This is similar to

saying em perumaan, em perumaanaar and not adiyEnin perumaan.

When AzhwAr sings about being blessed to obtain his grace, he feels humble

and says “adiyEn” (this servant) ; whereas when he addresses SaTagOpar, he

uses, “en”. (my)

Same with next pAsuram: anbanaay “adiyEn” sadhirtthEn inRE..” Today “adiyEn”

(this servant), who has been running behind others, is now blessed to be the

loved disciple of Kurugoor Nambhi.. Here, you may notice that when AzhwAr

says that he has become the loved sishya of Sri SatagOpar, he uses the word

“adiyEn”, menas no ahamkara, mamakaram.

While the next pAsuram, he says.. “enRum “ennai” igazhivilan kaaNminE..” he

will never ever look down at me.. ( not adiyEnai.. ennai… Because, I AM

proud to be the sishya- beloved sishya of Sri NaamAzhwAr and hence, he will

not leave me.

adiyEn’s humble submission to “en” MadhurakaviAzhwAr on his

Thirunakshathram.
