Since I have said everything I have to say on the topic, I wish to conclude this topic with this e-mail. If people do send me e-mail either privately or in public, I will try to reply to them privately, and that too only if I can add value to the discussion. The point is *not* of how intelligent, how esoteric, or how dumb the questions are. I think people are reading too much into my e-mail. The example of perumAL's swaroopam and roopam was just taken to make a point. There have been a variety of very thought-provoking questions raised by several of the participants including thyself. I have to sincerely accept that aDiyen has learnt a lot from those questions. > adiyEn would like to leave everyone with a > question of my own, in public :-). Would a > participant of a private conference on health > matters object to raising questions about food > choices, on the basis that some of the answers > may require him/her to give up certain foods > that he/she has loved all his/her life? Good analogy but let me please elaborate. A private conference is not the same as AcArya kAlakshepam or upanyAsam. We might consider a person delivering the speech in a private conference a peer. At best we might elevate him to the status of an expert. AcArya is a whole different person. He is sAkShAt nArAyaNa. So, while we may or may not take the food expert seriously, our conscientious mind will not allow us to take the AcArya anything but seriously. This is where the conflict arises between current life-styles, between the interpretations and relaxations of conduct advocated by various AcAryas. > However, if there are many who are upset with > having to hear answers that are not to their > liking, then, adiyEn as the organizer will > reluctantly ask the participants not to raise > such questions during upanyasams. Please let > me know by e-mail. Considering that the audience at large (at least those that responded in public) had a fairly unanimous opinion on the issues I have raised, I have absolutely nothing to propose or dispose. So, please continue with the current format. To those I might have offended, I sincerely request their kind forgiveness. | na dharma niShTho'smi na ca Atma-vEdi | || na bhaktimAn tvatcharaNAravindE || | akincanO ananyagatih sharaNya | || tvat pAda moolam saraNam prapadye || AcAryan thiruvaDigaLe sharaNam -aDiyEn dAsan, muraLi kaDAmbi Send instant messages & get email alerts with Messenger. http://im./
