Dear bAgawathAs, Sri thiru arangatthu amuthanAr delivered this precious grantham spontaneously using this abborva " yanthram " or meter known as " kattaLai kalith thuRai " as ordained by his sadachAryAL Sri kooratthu AzhwAr. The other few " nools " that are delivered in praise of the AchArya purushALs are, 1. Sri madura kavi AzhwArs " kaNNinun siRutthAmbu " on Sri nammAzwAr, 2. Sri kamba nAttu AzhwAr's " Sri Sadagopar AnthAthi " on Sri nammAzwAr, 3. " Sri pillai anthAthi " of Swami dEsika prabhandham. Only 3 are named after a person and they are 1. " Sri Sadagopar anthAthi " , 2. " Sri irAmAnusa nooRRu anthAthi " and 3. " Sri pillai anthAthi " . Sri Sadagopar anthAthi has the uniqueness of directly being delivered by Sri Kamban on the request of Sri RanganAthar HIMself. On the day of the arangEtram or debut rendering of Sri Kamba rAmAyanam, It is said that Sri Kamban went to periya perumAL sannithi and sought the the blessings of the Lord. Sri Ranganthar asked him " nam sadagopanaip paRRip pAdinAyA? " ie.. " did you deliver any grantham about our Sadagopan (or nammAzhwAr)? " . Sri Kamban took such conversation as the divine command and then delivered " Sri Sadagopar anthAthi " as ordained by Sri Ranganathar. Sri thiru arangatthu amuthanAr also accepted the " Angyai " of Sri Kooratthu AzhwAr and delivered this grantham on " Sri irAmAnusar " . Only a few other granthams is said to have this bAgyam of " nErmuga sARRal " . The other nools are the first three anthAthis. In thiruk kOviloor " puzhak kadai " , (puzhangum kidai or " puzhangum adaiveLi " , ie the strip or the passage between the threshold or the main entrance of the house and the inner living hall) when all the three muthal AzhwArs namely " Poygai AzhwAr " , " boothatthu AzhwAr " and " pEy AzhwAr " were thickly packed and were resting from a hale and thunder storm, First a jyOthi appeared between them and Sri poygai AzhwAr delivered one pasuram known as " vaiyamE thagaLiyA " on seeing this aruL perum jyOthi as the emperumAn. Then they all felt their inner soul lit up with para nyAnam and literally saw Sriman nArAyana as their antharyAmin and all prevading. At this time, Sri boothatthu AzhwAr delivered a pasuram known as " anbE thagaLiyA.. " . Then, Sriyapathi Sriman nArAyanan appeared as the divya dhampathi with all his pachAyutham and Sri pEy AzhwAr delivered a pAsuram " thiruk kaNdEn.. " , on having this prathyaksha darsanam (*). These three verses are the first three verses of the nAlAyira divya prabhandham in the chronological order. Though in the traditional rendering " thirup pallAndu " is the first, as per the chronology these three pasurams of muthal AzhwArs are the first and preceding in the previous yugA. The muthal AzhwArs went on to deliver 99 more pasurams each, afterwards. These verses have the sAkshAthkAram & the validity from Sriyapathi emperumAn & pirAtti as they were listening to them directly when these were delivered. That is how this holy grantham of 4000 divya prabhandham began. After several centuries past, Sri thiru arangatthu amuthanAr was residing in a thennam sOlai (palm tree garden) near to the " thiru mathil " (the great compound wall) at " adaya vaLainthAn " or " adaiya vaLanchAn " (the 7th and the final circuit or street surrounding Sri Ranganathar and Sri Ranganayaki thAyAr) and was delivering this aboorva grantham sri irAmAnusa nooRRu anthAthi, namely the last of the 4000. At that time " as commanded " by Sri Ranganathar and thAyar, Sri emperumAnAr (ie Sri irAmAnusar HIMself) and Sri Kooratthu AzhwAr arrived there with their disciples Sri embAr and other 4 shishyALs. That time Sri thiru arangatthu amuthanAr was about completing the 105th pAsuram " sezhum thirai pAr kadal.. " . On Seeing Sri emperumAnAr and his AchAryAL appearing with their 5 shishyALs, Sri thiru arangatthu amuthanAr was overwhelmed and poured out his feelings and delivered the last three 3 pasurams of Sri irAmAnusa nooRRu anthAthi ex-tempore and infront of them spontaneosuly. In many ways this is similar to Sriyapathi perumAL and thAyar (2 of them) and their pachAyutham (5 of them) appearing when the first 3 pasurams were delivered. This time it was emperumAnAr instead of emperumAn (or Sri irAmAnusar). Sri KooratthuAzwAn was in place of thAyAr as he was his AchAryAL and mediatrix and as well as " perum kAruNyar " as similar to thAyAr. Sri irAmAnusar and Sri koorratthu AzhwAr were the two divine couple. The 5 shishyALs are similar to the pachAyuthams. The appearance of sriyapahti with panchAyutham gave the validity and prathyakshanam for the beginning of 4000 and they stood as the " rakshai " at the beginning. Sameway, the 4000 ended with these last 3 pasurams. ie., These 3 pasurams were also validated by the prathyaksha darshanam of Sri emperumAnAr, Sri Koorathu AzhwAr and their shishyALs. Sri emperumAnAr, Sri AzhwAn and shishyALs stood as the " rakshai " this time around, and provided the protection for the 4000 at the end of it. This gives a good understanding that this grantham is indeed a part of 4000 as against some belief on contrary. ______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
