Sir, Please permit me to add another one in the same category. Somewhere in Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam (can't remember exactly where, but perhaps one of you can try and locate from the original text) SriRamachandra proclaims that of all man's sins, man's ingratitude to man (lack of " krutagnyata " for favours or kindness received in life) is the deadliest. Simply no " prAyaschita " in the " sAstrA-s " ... no means of expiation... for it. Just a thought I'd like to add. Guest guest
Dear Members of SrI MAlOlan Net, The way in which SrI Anand writes each and every topic is simply wonderful. We Vaidikas surely enjoy the appropriate pramANas that are quoted by SrI Anand along with each aspect which is presented. adiyEn would like to add few more points regarding this subject " narakam " > Sage VyAsa refers to this issue in Brahma-Sutras, though > the context is entirely different. Its suffice to know that > through the sUtra " api sapta " (3.1.15) it is evident that > there are " seven naraka lOkas " . The sUtra is in the anishtAdikAryadhikaranam. Swamy SrI Bhagavath rAmAjuja Yatiraja has commented this sUtra as " saptha rowravAdInapi smaranthi " (VedAnta sAram) - meaning " (for the pApi to suffer,) seven hells like rowravam has been mentioned " . > Sixth adhyAyam (chapter) of SrI VishNu PurANam describes > various types of narakams. SrImad Villivalam Azhagiyasingar's > (current HH Jeeyar) Tamil notes on SrI VishNu PurANam is an > excellent read. It is a two volumed book published by SrI > Nrusimha Priya Trust. Probably someone can translate the > relevant section on narakams (pg.287-293) from that book, > which discusses things like what type of narakam is in store > for sins like performing " abortion " , growing pets like dog, > cat etc. Sage ParASara's words " sarvE caithE vaSam yAnthi yamasya " (VishNu PurANam) has been quoted in this context by our Swami for explaining the sUtra " smaranthi cha " in the same adhikaraNam. Sruthi in this context says " vaivasvatham sangamanam janAnAm yamam rAjAnam " . With some of the pApas mentioned in his mail, I would like to add a pApa which is of the highest order. That pApa is considering SrIman NArAyaNa to be equal to a dEvaTAntara (demi-God). Kaisika purANam elaborately lists various pApAs and then stresses that if this pApa is done, then the prAyaschitha is almost impossible. Also the commentary offered by SrImath ParASara Bhattar on kaisika purANam has to be studied to know these aspects in details. Thanks & Regards M.S.HARI Ramanuja Daasan. __________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=
