Guest guest
Dear bhaktas: Many thanks to Sri. Anand Karalapakkam, Sri. M.S. Hari and Sri. Sampathkumar for their input re: narakalokam. It does appear that Srivaishnavism recognizes the existence of naraka, and perhaps even identifies seven (or more??) such narakalokas. Since Sri. Anand mentioned the sixth adhyAya of VishnupurANa, I have a general question. In an English translation of the VishnupurANa by Max Mueller, I recall reading references (in the first adhyAya, I think) to Buddhism and Jainism. Does this not effectively " date " the VishnupurANa to within the last 2500 years? Since I'm not aware of the true origin of VishnupurANa, I would appreciate it if any of the members could shed light on the sampradAyic view on its " origin " and if possible, explain its reference to these other religions. aDiyEn, -Srinath C. email: xsrinath
