Sri MS Hari: I apologize for my inappropriate choice of words. I only meant to say that we shouldn't be closed minded. After all, the listener (srotA) is the one who perceives harshness etc. in a statement. Therefore I meant to say that calling advaita a mere personal opinion could be taken as condemnation by an advaitin, for example. Nothing personal here. > I wanted to differentiate between the parama-vaidika-matham > and others. As I found your words " acceptance among all vedantins " , I have a > question for you: " Who is Vedantin/Vaidika? " . May I request you to kindly > answer this question? I would say that a vedantin is one who follows the tenets of the Upanishads, while a vaideeka is one who has studied the veda and practices it in everyday life. There may be more expanded definitions for these terms but I think this is sufficient. > I have a question > addressed to you: " Is there atleast a single sUtra in bhagawAn bAdarAyaNa's > Brahma-sUtra in support of SrI Adi Sankara's philosophy? That however is neither a pramANa for SrivaishNavas, nor is its discussion permitted within the premises of malolan net. And needless to say, it has been successfully refuted by our Swami Desikan many times over. Perhaps you're asking this only to make me restate the obvious. > I have asked this question because you have > written " It will be a tall order to conclusively prove that bAdarAyaNa and > his legacy were 100% visistAdvaitam " You misunderstand. Conclusive proof doesn't mean " prove to yourself " ; it means to convince the larger audience beyond a shadow of doubt. You and I can easily convince each other and all of malolan net, that visistAdvaita is supreme. But advaitins still continue to thrive in large numbers (unfortunately much larger than visistAdvaitins), and we really aren't getting anywhere by simply telling ourselves how good we are. This is the tall order which I referred to; namely - gaining universal acceptance for Srivaishnava philosophy. This is why it is important to publish and spread the convincing works of our AchAryas, such as the paramArthabhUshaNa by Sri. Uttamoor swAmi. Sri. Hari, we are both on the same side - you just don't see it that way yet. I hope this message makes things clear. I also feel it is best that we end our discussion here. My apologies once again if I have caused offence. aDiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan, -Srinath Chakravarty
