Sri HayagrIva Sthothram : Part XXXIII-- SlOkams 30 & 31: Part I (Introduction)

Dear BhakthAs :

 

In the thirtieth slOkam , Swamy Desikan engages

in a sanchAri BhAvam known as Sva-Yogya-kathanam

( description of his qualifications for receiving

the Lord's anugraham ). He points out to Lord HayagrIvan

that is hapless and helpless and hence is the most qualified

to receive His DayA and anugraham .

 

The thirty first slOkam is the last in the series

of SlOkams addressed directly to the Lord , which started

with SlOkam Six. Here , as a concluding appeal ,

Swamy Desikan prays to Lord HayagrIvan for

the anugraham of the clear comprehension of every

Taathvam relevant to the Sri VaishNava SiddhAntham

so that he can defend them competently in debates

to ensue. Lord HayagrIvan showered His abundant

blessings on Swamy Desikan to go about his (Swamy

Desikan's )avathAra kaaryam . Rest is history .

 

Great Sri Sookthis flowed from the tongue of

Swamy Desikan . Lord HayagrIvan drove Swamy

Desikan's YezhutthANi ( writing tool for palm

leaves) to realize :

 

(A) Monumental rahasya granthams in MaNi PravALam

such as Srimath Rahasya Thraya Saaram , VirOdha

ParihAram , Paramatha Bhangam , PradhAna sathakam

et al .

 

(B) Matchless Sanskrit Kaavyams like Sri RanganAtha

PaadhukA Sahasram ,YadhavAbhuydham , Hamsa SandEsam ,

Sankalpa SuryOdhayam et al .

AchArya RaamAnujA's GithA BhAshyam )et al .

 

(G) Deep philosophical works like Tatthva Muktha KalApa,

SarvArtha Sidhdi (an exposition of the above Sri Sookthi)

and polemical works like Satha DhUshaNi et al.

 

All in all 130 works were created by Swamy Desikan

with Lord HayagrIva's blessings. Sri BhAshya KaalakshEpam

was performed thirty plus times by him . Future AchAryAs

like Kumaara VaradAcchAr and Brahma Tanthra ParakAla

Yathi I were trained and blessed to continue

the siddhAntha rakshaNam. Para Kaala matam

came into being . Other AchArya Paramparais

based on Swamy Desika SampradhAyam like

AhObila Matam few decades later .SampradhAyam

flourished thus due to the ParipUrNa anugraham of

Lord HayagrIvan in response to the prayers of

Swami Desikan housed in Sri HayagrIva sthOthram

in general and the 30th as well as the 31st

SlOkams iin particular .
