On behalf of NAMA members, office bearers and all well wishing devotees, please

accept our invitation to participate, support and encourage the young and the

grown at the NAMA 5th year celebrations and Srivaishnava Conference. We will be

contacting speakers for their acceptance to be on the Agenda. However, for

travel planning purposes, please see the preliminary Agenda listed below. We

appeal to all US and Canada based Srivaishnavas and other devotees to attend

the conference and the Adhyayana Utsavam to make it a cohesive and unified

event. I request all to treat this as a personal invitation. We need

volunteers to be the speakers, be on the panels and to facilitate Youth

Workshops. May I request you all to forward this announcement to your relatives

and friends?

Regards, Nagu Satyan (satyan)

During the December NAMA Srivaishnava Conference (12/30/00 to 1/1/01), we have

planned many activities for children and young adults. We hope to have a large

participation of families with young children and youth. Three winners will be

awarded prizes on 1st January in each of the first four categories listed

below.

1. Quiz on Mahabharatha (12/30) and Ramayana (12/31): Please have children and

youth come prepared to participate in the quiz. Smt. Krishnapriya Kalale has

agreed to facilitate the quiz. We need at least two other parents to volunteer

to organize and facilitate this activity. . The judges will be Smt.

Krishnapriya and the volunteer parents.

2. Tamil Prabandham Recitation Competetion (12/31): There will be a tamil

Prabandham recitation competition. The verses could be from Divya or Desika

Prabandham or any Prabandham on Sriman Narayana. Children of all ages can

recite by heart any pasuram (verse) of their Choice. They have to identify who

composed it, along with a brief summary of the same. We suggest that parents

spend time with their young ones, in choosing the pasurams and discussing the

meanings and preparing for the contest. Learned Tamil scholars will be the

judges.

3. Sanskrit Sloka Recitation Competetion (12/31): There will be sanskrit sloka

recitation competition. The slokas will be on Sriman Narayana and His

vaibhavas. Children of all ages can recite by heart any Sanskrit Shloka of

their Choice. They have to identify who composed the Shloka, along with a brief

summary of the same. We suggest that parents spend time with their young ones,

in choosing the Shlokas and discussing the meanings and preparing for the

contest. Learned Sanskrit scholars will be the judges.

4. Cultural/Talent show: It will be very casual with kids/teens/youth

performing any art/talent/expertise for the audience. Categories are Classical

Dance, Music, Poetry/ Magic show/ Jokes and Humor and so on. Again we will

have a few Judges for this event.

5. Youth Workshop and Panel Discussions: Workshops on our religion will be held

on 30th and 31st December. We are soliciting suggestion on topics
