Guest guest
Friends, I have a small query which i wish to get cleared thru my learned friends of this egroup. I am told that for a srivaishnavite it is a must to visit the char dham in india viz Badrinath dham, Dwarkanath Dham, Puri Jagnnath Dham and Rameshwaram Dham. I also know that there are 108 divya desam of which 106 is in india and 2 in vaikuntam. I wish to understand that whether the above mentioned char dham is also a part of the 108 divya desam or not. Please also exlain the importance of visiting the char dham. Regards, S. Srinivasan Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. /

The only " must do " is nithya, naimithya karamaanushtanam. If one is interested in becoming a Sri Vaishnava then panca samskaram is a must and if one is desirous of mOksham, then prapatti is a must. As a Sri Vaishnava it is a must to be free from anya-devata sambhandham. Going to temple is not a must. We go to temples out of love, not out of a sense of " must " . In a temple we get a glimpse of the AnandAnubhavam that awaits a prapanna in Paramapadham. > is also a part of the 108 divya desam or not. > Please also explain the importance of visiting > the char dham. Badri and Dwaraka are part of the 108 dhivya desams, Puri is not. Puri is one the ancient sthalams that Sri Vaishnavas do visit. Rameshwaram is neither. ThiruppullANi is among the 108 dhivya desams where Lord Rama camped before crossing the ocean. It is about 5KM before the modern day Rameshwaram. The sea shore near ThiruppullANi is the ancient sethu. Sri Viashnavas perform sethu snAnam at this place. -- adiyEn ramanuja dasan srimad azhagiya Singar thiruvadigaLE saraNam
Guest guest
Sri: SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha, Namo Narayana, Thanks Sri Dileepan Swami for calling reference to TirupullaNi and Sethu Snanam at this place. H.H. Srimad Andavan Swami of Srimad Poundarikapuram Ashramam required adiyen to perform sethu snanam here prior to receiving Pancha Samskaram and BharanyAsam. Sethu snanam was a most enjoyable and memorable experience in adiyen's life. In a nutshell, Sethu snanam provides sarva dosha nivaraNam. Swami Desikan refers to the sacredness of Sethu in several places: (1) Vega Sethu Stotram (2) Vaidhikam Dharma Sethum in the Sri Stuthi (3) Saditha sethupatha seema seemanthitha samudra in the Mahaveera Vaibhavam (4) Ashithila Dharma sethu padhaveem ruchirAmachirAth in the Daya Shatakam In all these instances, it is instructive to observe our Paramacharyan's thought process while characterizing Perumal/Thayar as the bridge that enables us to cross the ocean of Samsara. Each of the above references has multiple layers of meanings. The best part after Sethu Snanam was Perumal Darshanam-Darbhasayanar, Adi Jagannathar, PadmAsani Thayar, and Pattabiramar. The taste of Pal Payasam at this Kshetram is unmatched. Namo Narayana, SriMuralidhara Dasan
