Guest guest
KURAI ONDRUM ILLAI BY MUKKOOR LAKSHMINARASIMHACHARIAR CHAPTER 28. At One time, manas (heart) and vakku (speech) had a huge quarrel. Vakku said, " just think for once-if it wasn't for me, would you have any use? You can express yourself only because of me… right? " We can have a thousand different feelings or thoughts running through us. For example, adiyen sits here until nine at night and if I don't open my mouth all day, will a person sitting across from me have any clue as to what I'm thinking or feeling? Vedas say that if the vakdevathai is not present in the manas, there is no use. The Vedas also say, people get Menmai(??) through vakku alone, because they can communicate with each other. In this world, people develop their relationships through speech. Now, let's get back to speech's question…manas replied : " If it wasn't for me, can you speak for yourself? Only if I give the information can you talk… " The debate continued—it became a huge ordeal! At the end both decided to go to Brahma and see what he says. Vathi and Prathivathi both stood in front of Brahma and asked which one was better. We have to pity Brahma! He doesn't know lowkeekam! Even though he participates in the creation of the world, he doesn't know lowkeekam! So he described how the vakku and manas came about, but he asked them not to fight afterwards. So, he said that he created manas first and vakku afterwards. Pranan was created first and `apaanan' was created afterwards. Hence, the manas is greater, and vakku is smaller and he advised vakku not to pick on manas. So now vakku became furious that he wasn't supported by Brahma and cursed Brahma instead! Because of this curse, any mantra said for Brahma is said in a very low tone; if the mantra is said in a loud tone, it will never reach Brahma. Afterwards, vakku sat in a corner and cried because it lost. But manas had to interfere! Manas patted vakku's back and then said, " Did you see what Brahma said? And you still don't have it straight…you still worry and sit here…? What is so difficult in accepting me being higher than you? " So manas now said , " Ok, leave what Brahma said alone. Let's have a race now. I'm going to run to see Parabrahmam, if you have the strength try to run… " and then manas started running really fast. So now vakku was rejuvenated and started running to keep up with manas. Manas went really really fast, but vakku could not do that, it ran to it's capability. Although, both ran their best, they still could not find Parabrahmam! Vakku finally caught up with manas and asked if manas saw Parabrahmam, but manas didn't! Vakku became immensely happy! It jumped on manas' shoulders and sat there. And says, " You and I are on the same team; You and I are the same…come on! " . In claiming equality, some are `samarthargal'. One man said, " I and the Chatur mukha Brahma are the same! " " How " " In one way… " " which way? " , " That chatur mukha Brahma does not know parabrahmam through authority, neither do I… " The same way, even though manas ran more than vakku, the end result is the same. Brahma was extremely happy that, the Thiruvadi that could not be reached by manas and vakku, could not even be found, came to him. In Sathya lokam, Bhagavan's Thiruvadi can be seen next to Brahma and Brahma washes it using his kamandalam. That Thiruvadi Theertham, the theertham which flowed when Bhagavan's Feet ripped the " aavaranam " , and the theertham from Bali Chakravarthy's hand flowed in one single stream! If it flowed like that, just imagine on how fast Perumal measured the world! The speed is unimaginable! One can see Bhagavan in Seergazhi with His Feet raised to the sky. Thirumangai Azhwar has sung about this in front of Jnanasambhanda Perumal. He came in a small form. He asked three measures of land in this two land(?? Iru nilathil). After taking two steps He asked, " Where shall I take the third step? " . After Azhwar sung this, Jnanasambhandar gave his `vel' to Thirumangai. Only a vidhvan can know about the difficulty of another vidvan! Seergazhi Perumal not only has His Foot raised to the sky, but He also has one finger raised asking us, " where shall I keep the third step? " But we might ask in return on how Mahabali gave his head as the third step, why does Perumal still ask? The answer to that question is that we have to be like Mahabali and bow our heads to Perumal also! Alavandar asked the same wish to Bhagavan: Hey Prabhu! Narayana! Thrivikrama! Please keep Your Feet on my head again…! We have to pay special attention to the last sentence cause Alavandar says, " again " . Alavandar is just amazing, his explanation is: " At first when You were Thrivikraman and measured the three worlds, I could have been any thing in this world , I don't know what…At that time, You would have measured me also right? Hence can You place Your Feet again on my head….? So, Vamana avatharam is the one where Bhagavan measured everything equally . Paramathma who is visvam, asked for Himself and got it! He was just testing Bali Chakravarthy to see if he would give the land or not. The same way, our athma is also His. He is just testing us to see if we give our athma to Him. Our athma is His property….He will always try to get it from us! That's what the visva sapdam conveys to us through Vamana avatharam. One man is wearing a gold ring(one savaran) on his finger, and the ring disappears. The owner is worried very much. But, is the ring worried that it is separated from the finger…? We are in the state of the ring. Bhagavan worries about us. But we, like the ring fallen on the ground, are not worried about anything! But will Paramathma leave us…? His mission is to take us ashore.
