ThiruppAvai Commentary Release Function: Part I

Dear BhakthAs Of ANDAL:

 

On October 11, 2000 Sri U.Ve. MahA VidvAN ,

Sri PerukkAranai MaadapUsi ChakravarthyAcchAr Swamy

released a most scholarly monograph in Tamil

on ThiruppAvai at Chennai's Desika Bhavanam.

Swamy is an AasthAna VidhvAn of Sri AhObila Matam.

 

Swamy's monograph has 634 pages.It is amazing to experience

the depth of thoughts and apporva Intrepretations of the thirty

ThiruppAvai Paasurams housed in this monograph by

Swamy. Some of the dear BhakthAs from here and India

contributed most welcome funds to cover the expenses of

publishing this brilliant commentary by Sri PerukkAraNai

Swamy. The depth of his scholarship is profound and his use

of Tamil in a facile manner helps us to enjoy this

marvellously illuminating grantham .

 

I had requested Sri Anand KaraLapAkkam PadmanAbhan ,

the grand son of Abhinava Desika UtthamUr Swamy to help

us with an eye witenss account of the ThiruppAvai VyAkyAnam

release function . He was invited to share the dais with

other Scholars of Sri Vaishnavam . He has sent us a most

enjoyable eye witness account of the proceedigns scene

by scene . It is amazing how he has captured all that

went on there at the dais as an invited speaker himself at

this important function. We should be proud of the accomplishments

of BAla dhvani Sri Anand following the tradition of

his two illustrious grand fathers.Thank you Sri Anand on

behalf of all of us.

 

I will be starting soon on summarizing the highlights

of Sri PerukkAranai Sawmy's monograph soon as a kaimkaryam

during the Marghazhi season this year.

 

Sri Anand has also taken special effort to send few copies of

the ThiruppAvai monograph of Swami to USA . They are arriving

by sea mail. These copies might arrive in time for

the NaamA Conference and adhyayanOthsavam

scheduled for December 30-31 at Sri RanganAthA Temple ,

Pomona , NY .Please plan to particpate in this wonderful

Uthsavam and obtain a copy of the ThiruppAvai Monograph

there .A sample copy will be there for you to browse

incase the shipment from India is delayed .

 

Copies of AchArya RaamAnujA CD ROM released last year and

a copy of the pilot version of the AzhwArs and the 108 Dhivya Desam

CD ROM will also be there . The pilot version focuses

on ThiruppANa AzhwAr and the dhivya dEsams that he sang about

in his AmalanAdhipirAN prabhandham .

 

Sri Anand KaraLapAkkam AnanthapadmanAbhan's eye witness

account of the ThiruppAvai release function is being sent

as part II of this note.
