SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnavas,

Please accept adiyEn’s dhaNdavath praNAmams at your feet.

The chart upto Swamy Desikan (on samAsrayaNa paramparai) is as follows:

Sriya: Pathi Sriman Narayanan

Sri MahAlakshmi (Peria PiraaTTi)

VishvaksEnar

NammAzhwAr (Sri SaTakOpar)

Sri nAthamuni

UyyakkoNdAr (Sri PuNdareekAshar)

MaNakkAl nambhI (Sri Ramamisrar)

AlavandhAr (Sri YaamunAchAryar)

Periya NambhI

Sri Ramanuja

PraNathArtthiharar (KidAmbiAcchAn- MadappaLLi AcchAn)

AthrEya Ramanujar

KidAmbi appuLLAr (Vaadhi hamsAmbuvAhar)

Swamy Vedantha Desikan

Somewhere along after Swamy Desikan’s period, the Srivaishnavam later became

two sects- parallel – one sect owing its allegiance to Swamy desikan and the

other to Sri manavala Mamauni. It is not our intent to dwell into the origin

or reason for these two sects. Swamy Desikan himself says in Sri SampradAya

parisuddhi.. “There is no difference in “artha virOdham” among the sishyAs

of Ramanuja sampradAyam. The difference is only in “vAkyArthayOjanAbhEdham”.

The respects and great regards between the AchAryAs belonging to these two

sects have always been there till date.

Having already seen the thennAchArya paramparai last week, (in Post 8), let

us look and pay our obeisance to other lineages in vadakalai sampradAyam to

land smoothly at asmadhAchAryan lotus feet.

During Swamy desikan’s times, there were also Sri PillailOkAryar, (the son

of Vadakku Tiruveedhip PiLLai), sri AzhagiyamaNavALa PerumAL Naayanaar

(Younger brother of PiLLai LOkAchAryA and another doyen of TennAchAryA

sampradAyA, a close associate and admirer of Swami Desika) and

Brahmathanthra Swathanthra Swamy –a disciple of Swamy desikan. Swamy also

had a son NainAchAryar (Sri Kumara Varadacharyar), who is in our AchArya

lienage in Bagavath vishaya paramparai, as Brahmathanthra Swamy did his

kaalakshEpam of Bhagavath Vishyam only from NainAchAryar.

Before diving into asmadhAchAryan paramparai, let me mention about Sri

Ahobila Mutt and Sri Parakalamutt.

Sri Vadakku thiruveedhi Pillai’s sishya was Srirangachar. Srirangachar’s

sishya was Sri KesavAchAr and he is the AchArya for Sri AdhivaN SatakOpar-

the sthPakar of Sri Ahobila Mutt (please see Sri Parthasarathy Dileepan’s

web page Sri Ahobila Mutt Home page – http://www.ahobilamutt.org ) and enjoy

the rich, deep content. Pay your obeisance to H.H Srimad Azhagiya Singar

45th Pattam who adorns currently the Peetam of Sri Ahobila Mutt.

Sri Ahobila Mutt Paramparai:

1. Vadakku Tiruveedhi Pillai

2. Srirangachar

3. Kesavachariar

4. Srinivasachariar

5. Kesavachariar

6. Adi Vann Satakopar

Sri AdhivaN SatakOpar also comes in the AchArya paramparai of every one of

us, as he is the one who gave kAshAyam to Sri ManavaLa maamunigaL and both

Sri Adhivan SatakOpar and Sri Parakala mutt 1st Jeer also come under

Bhgavath vishayam AchArya lineage (as given below) of all vadakalai

irrespective of their AchArya

Bhagavath vishayam paramparai:

Swamy Desikan

NainAchARyar

Brahmathanthra Swathanthra Swamy (Sri Parakala mutt 1st Jeer)

HasthinAyakar

Vaathsya Varadaacharyar

Sri ADHIVAN SATAKOPAR (Sri Ahobila Mutt 1st Jeer)

ThruthIya Paraakusar

Shashta parAnkusa Swamy

Sri Saila SrinivasAchAryar

..

..

Sri Gopaalaarya Mahadesikan (Thirukkudanthai Desikan)

Thus, both Sri Parakala mutt Jeer as well as Sri Ahobila Mutt Jeers come

under AchArya paramparai (under Bhagavath vishayam as well as Sri Bhashya

Paramparai).

We have just mentioned about Sri Brahmathanthra Swathanthra Swamy of

Melkote, a disciple of Swamy Desikan. He established Sri Parakala mutt. He

also followed Swami Desika Darsanam and was performing ArAdhanam for ArchA

Murthi of Sri Lakshmi Hayageevar granted to him by Swami Desikan himself.

(Please browse the excellent website on Sri Parakalamutt-

http://hayagriva.homepage.com ) and enjoy the beautiful darshan of Sri

Lakshmi Hayagrivan and Srimad Abhinava vAgheesa Brahma Thanthra ParakAla

Swami (The Prakritam Swami- The present Pontiff of the Mutt.)

Let us look at how and where Thirukkudanthai Desikan comes on the lienage-

and lead to the lotus feet of asmadhAchAryan- H.H Sri PaRavAkkOttai Andavan,

whose 81st Thirunakshathram is being celebrated.
