I thank SrI Parthasarati Dileepan swAmi for bringing out the essence of the earlier communication. Guest guest
Dear SrI MAlOlan CadAmi, You wrote: > I am not quite able to understand the term sAmAnya vidya > with reference to Ekalavya. The term " sAmAnya " is not for " nindanam " . sAmAnya means ordinary here. Does it.... This is a phala-Sruthi slokam for SrI SahasranAma. To know the varNa-Aasrama dharmas clearly, I suggest you to study manu smruthi and such smruthis. You wrote: > How then would the vidyA that ekalavya " received " from > Drona-charyar be counted as sAmAnya vidya? Was it not that > Ekalavya was merely following his swadharma? Let us assume that Ekalayva's swadharma is learning dhanur-vidyA for a moment. Even in this case, he was NOT following his swadharma because the way he adopted to get it was not appropriate as already pointed out. Now a question - Was Ekalayva a kshatriya? I wish to understand what the Swadharma of > brahmanas are, in particular prappanas. I appreciate your thoughts behind your words as quoted above. But Ekalayva is NOT a good example for AchArya bhakti. Before one could conclude in this context, I suggest the study of swAmi dESika's SrImath rahasyatraya sAram, nyAsa vimSathi and such divine granthams where the nature of AchArya, Sishya, AchArya bhakti are clearly defined as per SAstra. Please note that the SrI SampradAya holds only SrI Madhurakavi AzwAr as the good example for AchArya bhakti (Ref. ...TunbatRa madhurakavi thOndrakkATTum thol vazhiyE nal vazhigaL thuNivArgatkE). The swadharma of brahmaNas in particular prappannas are clearly defined in SrI VaishNava Aahnika granthams. It is daily pancha kAla prakriyA involving vaidika anushtAnams as listed below. 1. abhigamanam 2. upAdAnam 3. igjyA 4. swAdyAyam 5. yOgam To know these things in detail, SrI VaishNava Aahnika granta kAlakhsEpam is suggested. Refer swAmi SrIman nigamAntha mahA dESika's SrI VaishNava dinachari for brief idea about the same.
