Sri:

SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha,

Dear Srimans Anand Swamin and Sarathy Swamin,

Thanks for your fine notes. Adiyen particularly enjoyed Sriman Anand

Swamin's references to Shasta ParAnkusha Satakopa Yathindra

Mahadesikan-the 6th Jeeyar of Ahobila Matham. Indeed this Mahan was

a pre-eminent exponent of the NrusimhAnushtup Mantram. He was noted

for his practice of SharaNagati to Bhagavan Jwala Narasimhar closely

following the footsteps of Ahirbudhyan, who formulated the rules

underlying the nuances of SharaNagati in the Ahirbudhnya Samhita. In

the Rahasya TrayasAram, Swami Desikan quotes from verses 11 and 12 of

the Mantrarajapada Stotram of Ahirbudhnyan while expounding on the

efficacy and rules of Prapatti.

Returning to the 6th Jeeyar of Ahobila Matham, two of his outstanding

works are: (i)A commentary on the Mantrarajapada Stotram (ii) Malola

Prapatti. It would be wonderful if these works can be recovered from

the collects at Sri Ahobila Matham and re-published with explanatory

notes in English.

Another noted exponent of the NrusimhAnushtup Mantram was the 25th

Jeeyar of Ahobila Matham, who was saved from certain death by the

enormous power of the Mrutyu Mrutyu Padam of the NrusimhAnushtup

mantram. Sri Anand Swamin may wish to elaborate on the incident where

some jealous persons tried to poison the food of this Jeeyar much in

the same manner that evile-minded persons tried to poison the food of

Sri Ramanujacharya.

Namo Narayana,

SriMuralidhara Dasan

Actually Sri Prativadi Bhayankaram Annan has a very unique Thaniyan.

It goes like this:

" Vedanta Deskika Kadaksha Vivrudhdhi Botham, KanthoBayanthrumina Karunaika

Paathram... "

Which means (Prativadhi Bayangaram Anna) has the Kadaksham of Sri Vedanta Desika

and grace of Sri ManavalaMamunigal. Also this Acharya's work on Swami Desika is

Sapthadhi Ratna malika, which pays glowing tributes to Swami Desika. It is also

a well known fact that late Sri Prativadi Bayangaram Annangaracharya Swami's

enthusiasm in participating Swami Desikan's Satrumarai was just amazing. He

would lead a big Thennacharya Ghosti in Swami Desikan's Stotra Pada Ghosti.

(Later adiyen will post a narration of Swami Desikan's Satrumarai mahothsavam at

Sri Deva Perumal Sannidhi.)

Even in Triplicane Sri Parthasarathy temple, Swami Desikan Sannidhi is situated

exactly next to Swami Bhashyakarar Sannidhi. Before going to Swami Bhashyakarar

you need to prostrate for Swami Desikan, which is a perfect GuruParambhara

tradition. Also I believe At Sri Perumbhudhur, as soon as Swami Bhashyakarar

comes out of his Sannidhi, the first honor will always be for Swami Desikan as

Swami Desikan's Sannidhi is the first one.

No one can ever be disrespectful to Swami Desikan, if they claim themselves as

SriVaishnavas. It is very unfortunate that highly philosophical difference of

opinions (between those Acharyas) have become street fights (for a group in the

present generation).
