Guest guest
Dear bhagawatas: adiyEn finds it sad to see strong opinions and counter- arguments being exchanged starting on the same nakshatram (vaikasi-aSvini) which is the piRandha naaL of Sri Anand Karalapakkam. IMHO it will behoove us all to send belated birthday greetings to this 26 yr old Srivaishnava scholar, instead of dissenting over the recognition of an internet discussion group. Please don't get me wrong - it is a wonderful thing that bhakti list has become an important confluence of Srivaishnavas and many others interested in Sri Ramanuja sampradayam over the last seven years. The coincidence of such crossfire at this time - when we are at the eve of SriRangaSamprokshanam in Pomona NY temple, and when we'd rather be wishing Sri Anand well instead of taking exception to his words; is rather unfortunate. After observing such strong sentiments being expressed, I carefully re-read Sri Anand's original posting and did not find anything unparliamentary, egoistic or otherwise offensive about it. After all, if perfection had to be a prerequisite for saying anything at all, then well - nobody can say anything for sure. Perhaps nobody OUGHT to say anything more. All the eminent personalities of different internet groups have had their faux pas at various times - " a slip of the tongue is not a fault of the mind, and he who says so is most unkind " ... it will therefore be best to collectively focus our efforts on the upcoming shubhadinam of the mahasamprokshanam; let the newly crowned lord SriRanganathan of this western hemsiphere make these difficult judgements instead! In retrospect, it is has been a learning experience for all involved - like they say " what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger " ... and so it goes with our online communities too. We learn with time and are so much the wiser for it. May all these anubhavams translate directly into vairgyam regarding all things samsaaric and complete devotion towards everything connected with PerumaL. satyam bruvam priyam bruvam | na-brooyaat saytam a-priyam || " Speak truthfully and pleasantly, but speak not the unpleasant truth " !! adiyEn, -Srinath C.
