Guest guest
sri: Namo Narayana! Pranamams to the feet of all bhagavathas. First off: Adiyal had the parama bhagyam of participating in the maha samprokshanam of Sri Ranganatha kovil in New York along with adiyaal's family. The much awaited event came to a successful conclusion with the showering of flowers on top of the temple. Words cannot describe the joy felt when we were able to sit in front of our most beautiful Namperumal and recite the Sri sookthis of our Purvacharyas. There were approximately 1000 bhagavathas who attended the maha samprokshanam(adiyal does not know the accurate figure--this is only an approximation) and streams of bhagavathas flocked the temple premises on the days prior to the samprokshanam day. Adiyal cannot even come close to describing the events with expressions that they deserve(Sadagopan Swami will do justice on this part). Adiyal just wanted to share the joy that came with finally having our own Sri Vaishnava kovil in the U.S. where we as Sri Vaishnavas have all rights and where we can follow our sampradayam to the T. ******************************************************************** Question: Adiyal was reading a passage from this book called, " Srisuktabhasyam " of Nanjiyar, translated by Sri A. Srinivasa Raghavan. In the passage he mentions: " A few others hold that She is the Sovereign of all except the Isvara, while Narayana is the Sovereign of all including Herself. All these run counter to the clear dictates of the Vedas which must be our first and cheif authority on these matters supported, of course, by Samhitas, Itihasas and Puranans. They declare that She is the Sovereign of all souls(Isvarim sarvabhutaanaam) as unconditionally as the Lord(Isvara sarvabhutaanaam); and so He is the Sovereign of all except Lakshmi as much as She is the Sovereign of all excepting Her Consort. The subordination of the one to the other is voluntary and optional, not obligatory. " Can someone identify which sampradayam believes in the first view and the second view? adiyal Ramanuja daasi Bhagyalakshmi
Guest guest
Dear Srimathi Bhagyalakshmi: Yesterday was indeed a joyous day beyond description. (1)Thanks for your kind remarks. I plan to write about some of the MahA samprOkshaNam activities soon . The first posting in this series went out today . (2)Your question is central to those of us who follow Swamy Desika SampradhAyam . Specific sections of 23rd and the 28th chapter of Srimath Rahasya Thraya Saaram focusses on this question and settles it without ambiguity . In today's posting on the 31st slOkam of Sri GuNa Rathna Kosam , it so happens that these issues are taken up by Sri ParAsara Bhattar and answered . I have included these insights by Bhattar Based on the " SrimathE NaarAyaNAya " section of dhvya manthram .Elaborate commentary by Swamy Desikan in the 28th chapter of Sri RTS has plenty of PramANams on this important question. Our siddantham in a nut shell is Perumal and Piratti are equal in all respects. Each is seshi, vibhu, and they both possess all kalyaNa guNAs. They share some kalyANa gunas and by mutual consent some guNas are more abundant with either PerumaL or Piratti. Both perumal and piratti create this universe, rule over it, and protect and grant mOksham for the jIvas. All jIvas are by nature sesha for the Dhivya Dampati. However, Piratti is not a sesha to Perumal by *nature*, but only by mutual consent. She is a sesha for perumal only because she wants to be a sesha to Him, not because she is Perumal's sesha by nature. adiyEn had the opportunity to translate Srimad Azhagiya Singar's ShrI: thatva dIpikai some months back.
