TTT - part - 4 - The Mechanism

(TTT - Thiru Mangai Thiru Aranga Thirup PaNi)

******************************************************************

Dear bAgawathAs,

Sri kumuthavalli samEtha Sri thirumangai AzhwAr thiruvadikaLE

saraNam

It is said that, thirumangai decided to take possession of

that statue and use the proceeds from it for " periya kOil mathiL "

thiru pani. He chose handful of his parivAram or associates and

arrived at thiru nAgai. They went around the temple and found no

way to enter it easily. There was a secret entrance through an

underground tunnel available for " boudhars " alone and such tunnel

was also originating from several hundred feet away in thick woods.

It is said that, this entrance to the tunnel was heavily guarded

and admission was strictly restricted to " boudhars " only.

Since it is impossible to enter through that entrance,

they planned for another route. There was a " sthubi " or a pillar

that one can see from outside. They estimated that this was a

hollow structure filled with inert material inside. If one can

climb onto that and dig in a hole through its central column, then

one can land on the inside of the premises of the buddha temple.

However, his spy informed him that there is a machine on the

landing spot that will suck the person into it and cut them off

into pieces. After knowing these details Sri thirumangai also

learnt as to where the " sippi " or the architect who fabricated

that machine was living then. It was learnt that the architect was

living in an another country then. It was also learnt that the

architect had a decree on him that if he ever reveal the secrets

of the machine, his head will be chopped off. It was said that the

architect agreed to that decree and obtained a huge compensation

for the services he rendered in fabricating and installing the

mechanism. It was believed that he took his wealth to a far off

place and was living there, in fear of the decree on him.

Keeping all this in mind and the unfinished periya kOil kainkaryam,

it is said that Sri thirumangai planned a trip with his parivAram

or aides to meet with the architect or " sirpi " of the machine (*).

*******************************************************************

adiyEn is resuming this after a hectic and most joyous week in the

company of so many bAgawathAs at Srirangam USA. The last four

parts of this series have been already published in the maha samprO

-kshanam souvenir in tamil under the title " sem pon mathiL arangam " .

(*) In one of the version it is said that this sirpi was living

in Sri lanka. It is said that it is forbidden to cross the sea

those days for earning or for anyother selfish purposes. It was

also due to the reason that one cannot miss the sandhyA for any

reason. It was afraid that it may take longer time to sail or jump

and leap across the sea. In that case one may have to miss a

sandhyA. Sri HanumAn had to cross the sea with the ANgyAi of the

lord in search of Sri SitA. Sri Hanuman had to cross the ocean

twice again for bringing the sanjeevi parvatham & taking it back

to its place once its intended use was fulfilled, all under the

divine command of the Lord HIMself. Our Lord Sri Rama HIMself

crossed the sea with his army for eliminating the symbol of

adharma namely Sri Ravana and demons. It may not be important for

now to ascertain as to whether it is dharmic to cross the sea or

where the sirpi was living. For now we would proceed and continue

this episode without the Srilanka factor.

Note: One may recall as to how much efforts our 44th Jeer had to

take to mobilise all the required resources to build the Raja

Gopuram in the last decade. Similarly our Sri Venkat a parama

ekAnthi sArma bowmar (45 Jeer addressed him so) is struggling hard

to mobilise sufficient resources to pay off the the expenses

for the samprokshanam of the Sri RanganAtha temple in Pomona New

york, USA. This temple was founded by HIS Holiness the 44th Jeer

Himself (by his divya AngyAi). The mahA samprOkshanam was done on

May 27th and there will be celebrations from now on, every month or

so. It is said by scriptures and quoted by elders that seeing a

mahA samprOkshanam of a divya dEsam cleanses " oru kOdi pavams "

(10 million accute sins of us that have been accumulated for so

long) of a soul. In Kali when a nAma japam itslef can take one soul

towards perumAL's path, the puNNiya sathsangams such as this mahA

samprOkshaNam can yield much more puNNiyams. adiyEn and scores of

many bAgawathAs had the bAgyam to be there during that time. For

those who have missed it, they can also benefit from seeing this

holy occassion by buying the video or VCD or photos at a reasonable

price from the temple and attain the same palans if they view this

tape and worship the Lord in " AtmArttham " and take a step to go

towards this temple. This will help you and the temple as well.

Please spread the word around and let 1000's of copies of video or

vcd's be bought. After all please tell me HOw many times on earth a

Sri Ranganatha kOil pradhama samprOkshanam can happen ?.

In the meantime we are extending all we can to help raise some

funds. If you know anyone who can contribute some money for the

temple purpose, please let us know. It may be a doctor in your town.

or it can be a big Indian grocery owner in your town. It may

be a business man in your town. Please take a print out of the

invitation from the web site of Sri Ranganatha temple and take it

(www.ranganatha.org) personally to them and seek their help. Any

help, either small or big is welcome. If you cannot help now with

your own monetary resources, you can atleast help by spending your

time in way required by the peers. You can contact Sri Sadagopan

or Sri Venkat for further details.
