Guest guest
SrI: SrI nArAyaNa yateendra mahAdESikAya namaH namO nArAyaNa! Dear SrI Malolan, Thanks for your question. aDiyEn would like to add few more to what SrI Dileepan had already answered your question rightly. > Sri Ahobila Matam line of AchAryas from Swami Bhashyakarar > till Srimad Athivan Satakopan is as follows: > > Swami Bhashyakarar > Embar > Bhattar > NanjIyar > NampiLlai > Vadakku Thiruvedhip PiLLai > Srirangeswarar > Kesavachar > KamalavAsar > Kesavachar > Srimad Adivan Satakopan > > Sri PiLLai LokAcAryar is not in the line. > > Also, please note, other Vadakalai branches have different > line of AcAryAs. What is meant by the above " Guruparampara " is the " SamASrayaNam " lineage of AchAryas. It so happens that many of the AchAryas listed above performed grantha kAlakshEpam under their " SamASrayaNa " AchArya itself. Basically, one's Guruparampara in general is that which his/her " SamASrayaNa " AchArya belongs to. But, one may perform kAlakshEpam under an AchArya of another " SamASrayaNam " lineage. Bhagavad RAmAnuja appointed 74 simhAsanAdipatis to perform SamASrayaNam. Regarding " Prapatti/Bhara-nyAsam " it has been a practice in general to perform it through either the SamASrayaNam AchArya Or kAlakshEpam AchArya of SrImad Rahasta-Traya SAram, as per the individual circumstances etc. In the times of SwAmi DESikan, many fathers themselves were Svayam-AchArya purushas and administered SamASrayaNam for their sons ; But in many cases the sons performed kAlakshEpam under different competent AchArya(s), as per the advise of the fathers/SamASrayaNa AchAryas. It can also be seen now, though the number of Swayam-AchAryas have reduced a lot. Hence, in the KAlakshEpa AchArya lineage, we will have various crossings of SamASrayaNa AchArya lineage. Coming back to the question, SrI VaDakku Thiruveedi PiLLai's sons were SrI PiLLai-LOkAchArya and SrI Azhagiya-manavALa-PerumAL nAyanAr. SrI Ra~ngEswarar is a samASrayaNa sishya of SrI VaDakku Thiruveedi PiLLai. The SamASrayaNa parampara of SrI Ahobila Muth does not pass through SrI PiLLai-LOkAchArya. SrI KESavAchArya is the father and SamASrayaNa AchArya of SrI AthivaN SaThakOpa JIyar. This JIyar underwent kAlakshEpam of various granthas including the primary four, under SrI GhaTikASathakam ammAL, the grandson of SrI NaDAdUr AmmAL. SrI GhaTikASathakam ammAL, who had his SamASrayaNam under his father of ammAL lineage, underwent kAlakshEpam of granthas under SrI Bramhatantra-Svatantra JIyar {who inturn learnt under both SwAmi DESikan and SrI KumAra-VaradAchArya, the son and SamASrayaNa sishya of SwAmi DESikan). Hence, the kAlakshEpa parampara (ie.of all the four granthas) for SrI Ahobila Muth passes through SwAmi DESikan. Similarly, other VaDakalai SrI VaishNavas can trace their KAlakshEpa parampara of all the 4 granthas to SwAmi DESikan, though their SamASrayaNa parampara might not pass through SwAmi DESikan. Simialrly, thenkalai SrI VaishNavas can trace their SrI-BhAshya KAlakshEpa Parampara through SwAmi DESikan, though their SamASrayaNa parampara will not pass through SwAmi DESikan. aDiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan, anantapadmanAbhan alias Anand.
