Dear devotees:

This year Sri Jayanthi is to be celebrated as follows:

INDIA USA (EDT to PDT) Hawaii

-----------------------

Munithraiyam 9/10/01 9/10/01 9/9/01

Sri Sannidhi 9/11/01 9/10/01 9/10/01

-----------------------

(p.s. I am not sure, but I think Then Acharya Sampradayam

will be the same as Sri Sannidhi. Please verify.)

The rule for determining Sri Jayanthi is as follows (from

Kelvi-Bathil book by Melppakkam Sri Narasimhachariar

Swami, Published by Sri Nrisimha Priya Trust, page 97):

General: Sri Krishna Jayanthi is on the day of Ashtami/Rohini

in the month of Simha.

Munithrayam:

------------

Has two Vradhams, Sri Jayanthi Vradham and Janmashtami Vradham.

If Ashtami and Rohini are present even for one vinadi, then

both Vradhams must be observed on that day. Otherwise, Janmashtami

Vradham must be observed on the day of Ashtami without any Saptami

before it, and Sri Jayanthi Vradham must be observed on the Rohini

day without any Kruththikai before it. If the later happens, two

vradhams must be observed.

This year, we find Ashtami and Rohini together on Sep 10th in India

as well as all over continental USA. Thus, for Munithraiya Sampradayam

both Janmashtami Vradaham as well as Sri Jayanthi vradham can be

observed on Sep 10th both in India as well as continental USA.

In Hawai, Ashtami and Rahini appear together on Sep 9th. Therefore,

the observance must be on Sep 9th for Munithraiyas residing in Hawaii.

Sri Sannidhi

------------

First, two definitions, (i) Sudda Ashtami is a day with Ashtami not

preceded by Saptami, and (ii) Sudda Rohini is a day with Rohini not

preceded by Kriththikai. Sri Sannidhi sishyas celebrate Sri Jayanthi

on the day when Sudda Ashtami coincides with Sudda Rohini. If Sudda

Ashtami does not coincide with Sudda Rohini, then, Sri Jayanthi

must be celebrated on Mrugasheerusham coinciding with either Navami

or Dasami.

This year, in India, Sudda Rohini is on Sep 10th, but Sudda Ashtami

is on Sep 11th. They do not coincide. Therefore, sishyas in India

must celebrate Sri Jayanthi on Sep 11th. However, in the U.S. from

the East to West coast, (not including Hawaii), Sudda Ashtami and

Sudda Rohini coincide on Sep 10th. Therefore, Sri Jayanthi is on

Sep 10th.

In Hawaii, Sudda Rohini is on Sep 9th and Sudda Ashtami is on Sep 10.

They do not coincide. Therefore, Sri Sannidhi sishyas residing in

Hawaii must celebrate Sri Jayanthi on Sep 10th as well. Thus, USA

Sri Sannidhi sishyas living in continental USA as well as Hawaii

must celebrate Sri Jayanthi on Sep 10th.

Following table shows the computations. All nazhigais taken from

Pambu panjangam.
