It would be out of pure enthusiasm and ignorance of the nature of God (all other than Sriyafpati Sriman NArAyana is 'god'), that this would have happened. As a good Sri Vaishnava one should thank our AchAryas, our parents and the Divya Dhampatis for having kept us out of this 'ganam' and its 'pati'. Such incidents abound in this world and will consume our everything if we spend our life time on this. So these are best ignored. There are problems nearer home. For starters, are you aware of the treatment meted out to our AchArya SArvabhowman Vishnu GhantAvatAram VenkatanAthan Swami NigamAntha MahA DEsikan? A few so called 'vaishnavas' and 'iyengars' (here one is not sure what five angams we refer to!), wear their yangjyopavItam around their ear (like when one visits a souchAlay) when accepting SatAri and ThIrtam at SwAmi's Sannidhi at the holiest of holy places for a Sri Vaishnavan i.e, SriRangam. Now how will you condemn this? The best method would be to pray to the Divya Dhampati at Srirangam to change the outlook of these souls. When correcting self (AdiyEn that is) is in itself a life time job and continues till rigor mortis sets in, where is the time for all these distractions. On a lighter note: AdiyEN would even salute this sculpter who showed that god VinAyaka (jeevan) & its idol (achEtana) is pervaded by Vishnu (ParamAtman Sriman NArAyana). For all that we boast of India being spiritual country, " anartha " s like this do keep happening every now and then ......Only, the other day I was coming across " Kargil Vinayagar " ..vinayaga posed atop a canon. Siva Parvathhi Vinayagar...new concepts are all coming dime a dozen @ the drop of hat. But, this miscreant attitude toward Lord Krishna is surely to be severely condemned. Please understand that I am writing this with a lot of sorrow in my heart as I am extremely sad to read the posting that some so called Vaishnavas are behaving in the most disgusting way towards our beloved Swami Nigamanta Maha Desika. Even with my extremely limited knowledge, I can understand and smile that a Jeevatma is trying to imitate Lord Sri Krishna through a Vesha(make-up) as many movie actors do and make many innocent people believe that they are Lord Sri Krishna (as was the case in Andhra pradesh with a movie actor, late N.T.Rama Rao); BUT I cannot imagine why some people resort to the most dreadful bhAgavata-apachAra, which, even Bhagavan sriman nArAyaNa cannot forgive. Once a Mahatma from Madras suggested:any service to Sri Desika swamy, to change the ignorant public perception, could be by way of starting Sri Nigamanta Mahadesika Colleges, or Free Hospitals, will be appropriate ( as they are doing in Ramakrishna Mission, as Vivekananda colleges etc..). But for that we need not just words, but a MISSION, where we all should rise above self. Fortunately, at least at Sri Ranganatha Temple, we have a MISSION " Abosolute Surrender to Sriman Narayana " . Finally, may I request all of you to please visit Sri Ranganatha Temple at Pomona, New York and deposit the dust from your sacred feet and make the Temple a Holy place. You are invited to attend the upcoming Sri Jayanti celebration on 9-10-2001 and Sri Desika Thirunakshatram on 9-28-2001. This is the Temple where we are just completing the Sannithis to Sri Bhagavad Ramanuja, Sri Vedanta Desika and Srimad Mukkur Azhagiyasingar(44th Jeer of Sri Ahobila Mutt, the Founder-Acharya ). Even though we are extremely sad that Sri Desika was disrespected at one Sri Ranganatha Sannithi, let us be happy that the Same Desika is Highly respected at another Sri Ranganatha Sannithi and we are trying to follow the Sampradayam as much as possible.
