" SRI RANGA SRI "

FIRST ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2000-2001 A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

=======================================================================

Dear Bhagavatas:

You might have noticed that the last " Regular " Issue of " Sri Ranga Sri "

was # 15 of Vol. 2 dated 13th August 2001(after the 27 issues in Volume 1

released earlier). No issues were released for the past couple of moths.

This is due to the following facts:

1. When " Sri Ranga Sri " was launched on Swami Desikan's

Tirunakshatram day on 8th October 2000, we planned weekly releases

working out to 52 issues in a full year from 8th October 2000 to 7th

October 2001.

2. Vacations taken for attending the Sathabishekam celebrations of

H.H. Srimad Andavan of Poundarikapuram Ashramam, Srirangam, and for

attending series of Conferences like Sri Ramanuja Jayanthi at New Jersey,

Samprokshanam of Sri Ranganatha Temple at Pomona, Ahobila Matam Acharya

Conference at Washington DC and the 5th Anniversary

Conference of SDDS to celebrate the Tirunakshatrams of

Tiruvenkatamudaiyan and Swami Desikan combined with the first Anniversary of

" Sri Ranga Sri " at Buffalo, New York contributed to limiting the number of

issues.

3. Computer virus during the year frequently played havoc to the

system and this also slowed down the releases.

4. In spite of all these, within less than 10 months from 8th October

2000 to 13th August 2001, as many as 54 issues had actually been released

(42 " Regular " issues plus over 12 " Special Issues " ), that is, more than the

52 planned besides other postings mentioned below.

5. We have been approving over 600 postings on Tele-Upanyasams, Tele- Stotra

classes. announcements regarding release of Audio and Video Cassettes, CDs,

Appeals for funds for various Kainkaryams etc besides a few other

discussions (so long as they were not repugnant to the stated objectives of

the Journal) – all with a view to encourage " Reader participation "

6. All these have been archived for public view at

" " .

Those who are not members of " Sri Ranga Sri " are requested to view the

" Regular " issues and if satisfied, to join by sending an email to

- " Srirangasri-Subscribe " .

Those who have already members are requested to kindly spread the message

and encourage their friends to as stated above.

7. The scholarly materials granted by Acharyas and erudite Vidwans

both in India and elsewhere)for exclusive publication in " Sri Ranga Sri "

will keep us going for at least another couple of years,

- even assuming we can resort to daily issues!

8. We requested our members and members of the other

fraternity to enroll as many members as possible or at least

one new member each by encouraging them to send an email to -

-

In the alternative, we also suggested to them that (provided they were

satisfied with the form and contents and the usefulness of the journal), to

recommend those who may be “REALLY” interested in joining, for directly

including them in our mailing list.

Thanks to their help and cooperation, and the interest shown by new members

on their own volition, our membership has risen to about 750

WITHIN THIS ONE YEAR!

9. INVITATION FOR SUDARSANA HOMAM

I have great pleasure in cordially inviting you with

your family and friends to attend `Sudarsana Homam " at my Atlanta

home on Saturday, 3rd November 2001. This will be an auspicious

occasion for all of us to have a get-together.

Please mark your calendar, finalize your travel plans early and

inform us -RSVP- for our making necessary arrangements for

picking up / drop off, accommodation etc. (of outstation attendees)

and for providing you directions and other details. This is very important.

Please favor us well in advance with your plans to attend.

Looking forward to meeting you soon and thanking you for your continued
