Dear all,

 

The 75th thirunakshatra mahOtsavam of SrImad Villivalam

Azhagiyasi~ngar was celebrated in a befitting and *very grand*

manner. It will be history in the Sannidhi records as one of the

very grand events of the recent past. Celebration of the

10th year of aashrama svIkAram was also co-incided.

 

Salient features :

 

* More than 10 days of celebration, with the centennary celebrations

of SrImad DEvanArviLAgam Azhagiyasi~ngar.

 

* VEda pArAyaNam of not merely on all the four vEdas, but also

on the different SAkas. The daily ghaNam recitations by the large

assembly of smArtas is still ringing in the ears of all the

listeners! It was awesome to say the least. They should have put

years of hard work to attain such perfection and clarity.

 

* Divya Prabandha PArAyaNam.

 

<< SambhAvanai to them was all time high involving Gold Coins

and the GhaNapATis were highly honoured >>

 

* Vidvat Sathas. It was attended by large group of vidvAns and it

spanned for few days. SambhAvanai to vidvAns were in a very

high scale - not known in the past. Not only in terms of direct

money, but " Gold Coins " were also part of it.

* Around 6000 devotees thronged the Mutt

complex at SElayUr,Chennai, though it was a working day.

Since Azhagiyasi~ngar is one of the most popular AchAryas,

devotees from various parts of India as well as abroad were

present to obtain the blessings of Azhagiyasi~ngar and

SrI-pAda tIrtham, apart from the blessings of MAlolan.

aDiyEn leaves the other things for your imagination ...Its an

excellent experience with such a SrI-VaishNava samruddhi.

Certain clippings appeared in the Television News of the State

Govt as well, apart from private channels. A separate show for

around 20 to 30 mts on this function will appear in the State

Govt Television Channel {ulAvarum OLikkadir}.

 

* MaryAdai from various Divya DEsams including Kovil,thirumalai,

PerumAL KOvil, Melkotte were most reverentially accepted by

JIyar.

 

* The postal dept of the Govt released Postal Covers with

the photo of the presiding deity Lakshmi-Nrusimha alongwith

the founder AchArya of the Ahobila Mutt viz. SrI AathivaN

SaThakopa JIyar and the current JIyar. The cover also has

the unique Hamsa-Mudra of the Mutt {as handed over by

NammAzhwAr to AathivaN SaThakopa JIyar} next to the

photo. It is very important to be noted that, this is the

*first time* in the history of the Postal Dept that a photo of a

living human being {as per their considerations} appears on the

postal cover. Around 20,000 such covers are being printed. It

is proposed to send one cover directly to all the rs

of SrI Nrusimha-PriyA.

 

The postal department shall soon issue 5 lakh to 10 lakh

stamps on SrI AthivaN SaThakopa JIyar with Lord MAlOlan

in his hand.

 

These steps were taken by the postal deparment in recognition

of the yeomen service carried out by SrI Ahobila Mutt for the

cultural heritage of India etc, in multitude ways, starting from

the founder JIyar to that of the current JIyar.

 

* Some books were also released on this occassion :

 

a. Vishaya-VAkya-artha DIpika by Upanishad BhAshyakAra

{Ra~ngarAmAnuja Muni}. This is a brief commentary on

the vishaya vAkyAs of each adhikaraNa in Bramha-SUtras.

This will make the study of SrI-BhAshya quite easier as the

context, meanings etc of the concerned Upanishad texts

are directly provided.

 

b. Taittiriya BrAmhanam {to my vague memory}: Text in

DEvanAgari Lipi.

 

and few more.

 

On the whole it was one of the most enjoyable days in my life

as well as that of many other devotees who were present there.

 

<< Due to lack of time, aDiyEn is winding up in a hurry.

This is more of a Flash News on what happened. More

reports shall surely surface from others. SrI Dileepan

and SrI Raghavan RAjAji representing SrI Ahobila Mutt of

USA did many kai~nkaryams which aDiyEn guesses that they

would share with us in the near future >>.
