Sri Krishna's praise of Rudra

Dear Bhagavatas,

adiyen is referring to the post relating to the story from Harivamsam about

Sri Krishna's praise of Rudra. (Unfortunately adiyen cannot go and look

into the archives. My employer does not allow access to Malolan Net

supposedly due to its adult content!)

Sri Krishna was not the only avatAram of Bhagavan at that time. Balarama

and Vyasa were avataarams also for limited purposes. Vyasa in fact composed

6 Rajasic and 6 Tamasic Puranas praising others as the supreme while

swearing with raised hands that there is no deity other than Keshava as the

supreme in the Mahabharata.

In the Bhagavad Geeta, Sri Krishna says to Arjuna that " Many are the births

that you and I have taken before. You do not remember your previous births,

but I remember them all. " Sri Rama tells Brahma who reminded Him that He

was indeed Vishnu, " I only know Myself as the son of Dasaratha. "

Now here do we take the words of Sri Krishna or Sri Rama. Is it possible

that Sri Rama who protected jivatmas that surrendered to Him every bit as

Sri Krishna did could not remember who He was let alone know about others?

All the various religions that exist today or have existed in the past have

done so only through the help and support and propagation they have received

at the hands of Bhagavan.

Sri Thiurkallam Swami says in the introduction to His summary book on the

Bhagavad Geeta, asks the question, " Why should we accept the words of Sri

Krishna in the Bhagavad Geeta in its entirety? After all, was it not the

same God who propogated Buddhism, Jainism etc.? "

He goes on to answer the question. The reason we accept the Bhagavad Geeta

in its entirety is because that it is totally consistent with the Vedas.

For anything to be accepted by Srivaishnavas, it has to pass the acid test

of being consistent with the Vedas which alone are the PramANam for

everything.

This is not the only instance of Sri Krishna praying to Rudran. In another

instance, He prays to Rudran to be blessed with a son. adiyen has heard

that our Acharyas have explained that this was done by Sri Krishna in answer

to Rudra's prayer, that Rudra would like to see Sri Krishna pray to him so

that Rudra can bless Sri Krishna with a child. The same explanation is

probably true of the quoted instance.

Srimad Azhagiya Singar explained in the Kannin un sirutambu lectures that

Sri Vaikuntham is superior to Azhwar Thirunagari because in Sri Vaikuntham,

Nammazhwar alone rules while in Azhwar Thirunagari there are 2 rulers

Nammazhwar and Thirukurungudi Perumal (end of quote from Srimad Azhagiya

Singar). Nammazhwar rules over the Prapannas while Perumal rules over the

baddha jivatmas. Perumal will give jivatmas whatever they seek, if they

have done what is required for their prayers to be answered, while

Nammazhwar will lead the band of His followers in the strict path service to

Sriman Narayana for the sake of service alone as described in the Vedas.

Therefore, there is no reason to be perplexed over what has appeared in Sri

Nrsimha Priya from the Harivamsam.

adiyen Ramanuja daasan,

jagan.
