Guest guest
SrI: Dear BhakthAs of Sri RanganAyaki ThAyAr: The 50th slOkam is the beginning of a set of slOkams through which Swamy ParAsara Bhattar instructs us that MahA Lakshmi is the UpAyam ( Means for Moksham ) , UpEyam ( the Goal , the Lakshyam and PrApyam ) and that She is a Vibhu like Her Lord . She as Bhagavathi has Thulya SeelA ( equal in auspicious features in every aspect with Her Lord ,the BhagavAn). Today , we will cover the introduction for the 51st slOkam . In these slOkams as elsewhere in Sri GuNa Rathna Kosam (slOkams 21, 22, 28 , 31 , 33 et al),Swamy ParAsara Bhattar elaborates on the doctrines housed in AchArya RaamAnujA's SaraNAgathi Gadhyam (first choorNikai) ,Swamy KurEsar's Sri Sthavm and Swamy Alavandhaar's ChathusslOki , Vedams and PurAnams to establish that PerumAL and PirAtti are the One and the Same Tatthvam .They are like the Sun and its lustre( ananya hi mayA SeethA BhAskarENa PrabhA yaTA ). The disputations about MahA Lakshmi's status as Vibhu, ANu , Moksha Dhaayakthvam ( power to grant Moksham ) are addressed and settled in the above PramANams. Swamy ParAsara Bhattar has answered very clearly these questions in another Sri Sookthi (Kaavyam) of his known as Sri LakshmI KalyANam . In the first slOkam (MangaLa slOKam)he summarizes our Mother's significance to our Lord , the KshEmamkaran : ananyAdhIna KalyANam anya mangaLa kAraNam jagannidhAnam adhvandham dhvandham vandhAmahE Through carefully chosen words, Bhattar summarizes brilliantly the yEka sEshithvam of this divine couple (Dhivya MiTunam ). " ananyAdhina kalyANam " here refers to Her natural (svathas-siddham) glories ( auspiciousness). It is not contributed or blessed by others . It is svAbhAvikam. It is innate. " anya mangaLa kaaraNam " refers to the fact that the Lord's auspiciousness arose out of the mangaLa dhrushti ( auspicious eye glances) of MahA Lakshmi. She is the One behind the glories/anantha kalyANa guNams ) of Her Lord .He follows the signs of Her eye brows to go about His duties and does what pleases and amuses Her .Bhattar chooses the word " JagannidhAnam " here to salute his mother , who brought him up at Srirangam. " JagannidhAnam VandAmahE " is a salutation to Her as Jagath KaarAna BhUthai with her Lord. She shares this activity as well. She is JagannAyaki, Jagath Rakshaki, Jagan Mohini and Sarva Isvarya PradhAyini , which includes ubhaya vibhUdhi Isvaryam ( LeelA and Nithya VibhUdhi) and Moksham . Bhattar's father , KurEsar summed up the limits of Her glory as not being fully understood even by Her Lord ( Devi Tvann-mahimA-vardhina HariNA nApi Thvyaa gn~AyathE). Kuresar states here that Neither MahA Lakshmi or Her Divine consort are aware of the limits of Her glories (Vaibhavam). KurEsar performs saraNAgathi at Her Thiruvadi for that reason (ThAmm DEvadEva MahishIm Sriyam aasrayAmaha:).All the AakArams of BhagavAn are equally shared by Bhagavathi, MahA Lakshmi, who blesses us as Sri RanganAyaki at Her abode at Srirangam as ArchA Moorthy. The Bahu GuNams ( the many attributes ) of the Lord celebrated by AchArya RaamAnujA in His Sri BhAshyam ( JagadhupAdhanathvam ,Jagannimitthathvam, Sarvaj~nathvam , Sarva Sakthi yOgathvam , Sathya sankalpathvam ,SarvAntharAthmathvam and sarva Niyamanathvam ) are shared equally by MahA Lakshmi. They choose however specific attributes by mutual agreement. For instance , " PurushakArathvam " (pleading for us to be forgiven by Her Lord angry at our trespasses) belongs uniquely to MahA Laksmi and DhaNDadharathvam ( punishing us for our repeated trespasses of His commands) belongs to the Lord. She is indeed asarNya SaraNyai and has been saluted by every AchAryan including AchArya RaamAnujaa in his SaraNAgathi Gadhyam at the beginning : " --Padhma VanAlayAm BHAGAVATHEEM SRIYAM DEVEEM nithyAnapAyinIm niravadhyAm DevadEva Dhivya MahishIm akhila-JaganmAtharam asaraNya-SaraNyAm ananayasaraNa; saraNamaham PrapdhyE " .
