Guest guest
Sri Srimathe ramanujaya namaha Dear Members, I would like to know if any of the Sri Sampradyam Acharyas have commented upon the Purva MimAmsam as well as the sutras of Jamini Maharishi on the Purva MimAmsam (atho dharma jignyAsa). Additional to this, I would like to know if any of our acharyas have commented on the Rig Veda Samhitam, as well as subsequent brahmanAs, aranyakAs of the Chaturvedams. Specifically, what does MimAmsa exactly mean? What school was promulgated by kumArila Bhatta and mandAna mishrA (later to become sureshwara, one of the four disciples of Adi Shankara and the first peethadhipathi of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham in Karnataka)? Guest guest
Sri: Dear Members, This is a foot note from what I was able to dig out from the Archives of the Bhakti List. This is an excerpt from the essay authored by U.Ve.N.S.Anantharangachar of Bangalore. " 4. SYNCRETISM (SAMANVAYA) BETWEEN THE TWO MIMAMSAS AND SYNCRETISM BETWEEN NYAYA AND VEDANTA ETC. Desika's work 'mImAmsA pAdukA' and 'sEshwara mImAmsA'(incomplete) are devoted to the working of unity between pUrvamImAmsA and uttaramImAmsA. These two form one integral text as expounded by RamAnuja. NyAyaparisuddhi works out syncretism between nyAya sAstra and vEdAnta. " http://www.ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/sep99/0123.html Further more, U.Ve.Sadagopan Mama of NY writes in a reply to a query of Sri.Vidyasankar Sundaresan; " > 1. Sesvaramimasa : Here Swami Desikan's > focus has been described as the defense of > Mimaamsa as " Ekasastra " , a single science > made up of Purvamimaamsa of Jaimini and > Uttaramimaamsa (Vedaantha), the elaboration > of Brahma Sutras of Badarayana . The Acharya > maintains that Purvamimaamsa is in harmony with the > Bramasutras and not in opposition . Swami continues and > states that Jaimini acccepted Isvara as the Universal Lord. > It is not clear that we might find help on the > question of Sri Vidyasankar from here.
