Guest guest
Dear bhaktas: It is as difficult for people to accept the teachings of differing traditions, as it is for them to live with any " resistance " towards teachings of their own preceptors. Since ours is not a faith that imposes itself at knife- point (like some other ones that do!), the only way in which SriVaishnavas can be accepting and acceptable - is through deep study of the works and compositions of ALL AchAryas who belong to ramAnuja sampradAyam. In this manner, we will begin to admire those AchAryas for their accomplishments and great qualities, and even appreciate why they were revered as divine beings. Even if we don't mutually share the passions which make up the so-called " avatAra vaibhavam " of many AchAryas, we will still remain SriVaishnavas - so long as we stick with the core doctrines of our faith i.e. those of SrI, of ubhaya vedAnta, and of prapatti. Belief in the (often mutually exclusive) divinity of our AchAryas is neither necessary nor sufficient for being a SriVaishnava - on the contrary it may even disqualify one from remaining a SriVaishnava, because of the apachAram (towards the non-believers) that it fosters. asmadAchAryan SrIrangapriya swAmi said to us (on the very day of my samASrayaNam), that " then " kalA and " vaDa " kalA are NOT among the 64 kalais recognized by our scriptures; hence they are only man-made. Even if all SriVaishnavas cannot be united in ideology, there is no need for them to be divided over an artificial construct! adiyEn -Srinath C. _______________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
