Dear BhakthAs of Sri RanganAyaki ThAyAr:

In the 58th slOkam , Swamy Parasara Bhattar instructs us

that SrI-RanganAyaki's OudhAryam or UdhAra SvabhAvam

is legendary and matchless:

Isvaryam akshara-gathim Paramam-Padham vaa

Kasmaichidh anjali-bharam vahathE vitheerya

asmai na kinchidh uchitham kruthamithyaTAmbha!

Thvam lajjasE kaTaya kOyam udhArabhAva:

--SlOkam 58, SrI GuNa Rathna KOsam

(Meaning according to Dr.V.N.VedAntha Desikan ):

*************************************************

Oh Mother ! Let anyone supplicate his hands in anjali

mudhrA (form), before You . Enough, You will , in Your

extreme kindliness , agree to give him all affluence ,

even kaivalyam and (better still) even Vaikuntam ,

in return for his anjali, what is more, You would

later on feel a certain bashfulness that is indeed

evident in Your smile even now!--that You had not

done enough for him , equal to the laborious exercise

he had exerted himself in folding his palms in

supplication!

What is this extreme bounteousness ? Why ?

Please explain it to me .

Additional Commnets (V.S):

*************************

In the earlier slOkam , Swamy ParAsara Bhattar

referred to SrI RanganAyaki's OudhAryam ,

KaaruNyam and Aaasritha Vaathsalyam. Here ,

he gives a measure of Her OudhArya GuNam.

Swamy ParAsara Bhattar fouces on the 5th Rk of

SrI Sooktham here , which contains the KaraNa

manthram (prayOgam ) for SrI Prapatthi. The key words

here are " UdhArAm " and " Saranam aham PrapadhyE " :

" ChandrAm PrabhAsAm yasasA jwalanthIm Sriyam

lOkE dEva-jushtAm UDHAARAAM ,

Thaamm PadhmanEmim SaraNamaham prapdhyE

alakshmIrmE nasyathAm ThvAm vruNE "

(Meaning): SrI Devi is full of bliss and She is constituted by

the dhravyam known as Suddha Satthvam leading to Her divine

form . She has the vaibhavam of granting all the four

purushArTams and She gladdens the hearts of those , who

seek Her refuge. She has the tEjas to burn down Her enemies.

She is very dear to Her Lord (priya bhAryai). She hears

the pitiable cry of suffering samsAris and She makes Her

Lord listen to it as well(the six meanings of SrI

sabdham:) . She acts as the Sarva niyAmini (Commander of

all )and pervades all chEthanams and beings (Sarva vyApini-

VaishNavi). She burns to ashes all of our sins and makes

all of Her devotees joyous through the display of Her

limitless auspicious attributes.She lends Herself

to be worshipped by people of all capabilities. She grants

every thing one seeks and yet afterwards feels bashful

that She did not give even more than what they asked for.

She is brought near Her devotees through their offering

of lotus flowers at Her sacred feet . She has immeasurable

mahimai .

Oh SrI Devi! I am incapable of protecting myself.I have

entrusted my protection entirely at Your holy feet.

May Thou destroy completely all my sins and Moksha VirOdhis!

I pray to You in Your role as my caring Mother to fulfil

my wishes !

Her UdhAra nature

******************

After granting all what one wishes for all the way

upto Moksham , She still feels contrite that She has not

given enough . That feeling state is a direct result of

Her SvAbhAvika UdhAra GuNam. She is recognized as

UkAra roopa in our siddhAntham , while intrepreting

the meaning of PraNavam according to Gata Sruthi vAkyam

according to Swamy Desikan in NyAya SiddhAnjanam:

" udhgruthA VishNunA LakshmI: UKAARENOCHYATHE taTA "

She is thus UkAra Vaachyai just like the Lord is

AkAra Vaachyan. Her matchless udhAra svabhAvam also

in adiyEn's humble view makes Her yet again a " UkAra Vaachyai " .

At SrIrangam , SrI RanganAyaki is in Her TanikkOil

(Separate Sanidhi) as AdhikAra ArchA RoopiNi. Elsewhere,

She is present as LayArchai ( Seated on the chest of

Her Lord without a moment's separation ) and as

BhOgArchai ( by Her Lord's side as pakka NaachiyAr).

Whether She is in LayArchai or BhOgArchai or AdhikAra

archai form , Her UdhAra SvabhAvam flows in

an uninterrupted fashion to bless us all always .

All of the blessings that one seeks is simply

obtained from this UdhAra SvaroopiNi by the simple

act of raising one's folded hand in front of Her

in anjali mudhrA. Even after granting all that one

sought , She feels uncomfortable that She has not

adequately rewarded Her devotee.

Swamy Paraasara Bhattar marvels at Her incomparable

OudhAryam and asks Her to explain this unique

udhAra SvabhAvam of His Mother , SrI RanganAyaki

in this slOkam.
