Guest guest
------------------------------ http://www.hindu.com/stories/2002051700450800.htm A deep study of scriptural literature under the guidance of expert and able commentators will provide a clear picture of the nature of a human being, the supreme powers of God and the relationship between the two. Since it is possible that each work may present different interpretations on the same subject, it is necessary for an ardent devotee to approach suitable guides. By virtue of their austerities and their strict adherence to the code of conduct prescribed in scriptures and by their uninterrupted service to God, these scholars gain knowledge which others may not be able to obtain or retain. But these teachers are being ridiculed as orthodox and old fashioned, not aligning themselves with modern trends. What should be remembered is that they follow the tradition established by previous Acharyas and at the same time do not inflict their views on others. The holy texts reflect God's qualities and religious leaders render various shades of commentaries, which a recipient student can absorb to the extent he can. Many of our ancient books dwell on the theme of the Divine Mother's compassion to devotees and Acharyas have gone through them to establish how She wields the same power as the Lord and how They are inseparable. In one of the hymns in praise of the Divine Mother, Sri Sthuthi, Sri Vedanta Desika has brought out the mercy extended by Her to devotees. Other Acharyas have also focussed in their outpourings about Her incomparable attributes. In a discourse, Sri V. Srivatsankacharya referred to an incident when Goddess Lakshmi showered gold coins on an appeal on behalf of a poor boy. Granting that the Lord feels somewhat hesitant to admit a devotee into His fold, the Divine Mother will recommend to Him to ignore his mistakes. The Divine Couple hold identical views. The Ramayana reveals Their grief when They were separated. Ravana, who abducted Sita thus leaving Rama alone, was punished. Surpanaka, who had an eye only on Rama, was maimed and Vibhishana, who was blessed by both, was crowned. When child Dhruva was meditating on God in the dense forest, the Divine Mother saw to it that beasts, fire or rain did not hinder him. Before the Divine Couple, devotees are treated alike. Even today, in temples, holy water and " Satari " are served on all those present to worship Them, without any distinction whatsoever. ------------------------------ LAUNCH - Your Music Experience http://launch.
