Swami Alavandhar's Sthothra Ratnam: Commentary by Swami Desikan

Dear Swamins,

Adiyen would like to have a copy of Swami Desikan's Bhashyam (either in Tamil or

English) on Sthothra Ratnam. Could anyone please let adiyen know where to get

such a grantham?

Dear SrI Kannan,

 

SwAmi DESikan's bhAshyam in Sanskrit was edited and

published by SrI SrIvatsA~nkAchArya SwAmi. Its out of

print. It also has SrI-ChatuSlOki BhAshyam and Gadyatraya

bhAshyam by SwAmi DESikan. The book was published by

Sri Vedanta Desika Seventh Centenary Trust.

 

aDiyEn is not aware of any direct tamil/english translation of

any of these bhAshyams. SrImad SrImushnam ANDavan has

recently written and published a tamil work on a part of

SrI-ChatuSlOki bhAshyam reg the five pakshams.

 

SrI UtthamUr SwAmi has written a tamil commentary with

word to word meaning for both SrI ChatuSlOki and

Stotra Ratnam. It follows SwAmi DESikan's bhAshyam ofcourse,

but not a translation - It does not dwell upon all the arguments /

points in the bhAshyam; But, SrI UtthamUr SwAmi has added

his own arguments and points as well to justify SwAmi DESikan's

bhAshyam. It is being re-printed and will be available

in a month's time.

 

Direct English translation of Stotra Ratnam by Sri Adidevananda

is available in Ramakrishna Mutt.
