Dear SrI MAdhavakkaNNan,

I partially appreciate your note. I take this opportunity to

share a point with all members. The divya prabandams

must NOT be interpreted from the angle of mere

language-knowledge. Few places in it looks as if it

is in very simple style. If someone interprets it

without the base of prastAna trayam - specifically

without the traditional kAlakshEpa knowledge of brahma-sUtra adhikaraNa

siddhAntams and bhagavath krupA, then such interpretations will not be

in vaidika-sampradAyam - vEdAnta darSanam. The pramANa

balam for our sidhdAntam is clear from the works of

Bhagavath VEda vyAsa (brahma sUtra), the vrutti of bhagavath

bOdhAnayaNa Rishi, Bhagavath dankAchArya, Bhagavath DramidAchArya

and such sages. The sampradAya balam is clear in the

divya prabandam of AzwArs. But the sampradAyam as it is in

the divya prabandams must be ascertained within the limits

of the brahma-sUtrams. If it crosses the limits of the

brahma-sUtrams, then such interpretations will be avaidikam

- not vaidikam. In the name of " anubhavam " , one must not

take mere athi-vAdams as sidhdAntams and thus write/preach

whatever comes to mind. Also, it has to be noted that anubhavam

is possible only as phalam as bhagavath praSAdam.

" VEdAt SAstram param nAsti " - vEda vyAsa bhagavAn.

I will elaborate it shortly. Critiques are welcome.

Thanks & Regards

Dear Sri Malolan,

Well said.

Swamy Desikan calls himself as " sandhamigu thamizh maRaiyOn " as well.

He also says (in Paramapadha sOpAnam) that in SrivaikuNtam, they

recite ThiruppalANdu...:-)

soozhndhu irundhu yEtthuvar pallANdE (from PeriyAzhwAr)

for us, srivaishnavas, Tamil and Sanskrit are two like eyes.

It is in Thamizh Vedas, that we have ArA amudhan- which stupefied

even Vedas (where it says, YathOvAchO nivartthanthE aprA Apya manasA

sa:)

Just utter ArA Amudhan avan- and we can visualize and enjoy amudham

springing out in our hearts contemplating on His ThirumEni, KalyANa

guNAs and dayai/Parama upakAram on us sending greatest Acharyas (and

continue to....)

Dear U.Ve.M S Hari Swamin,

I fully support this. Yes, without basis in the Brahma Sutram, the

divya prabandha vyakhyanams cannot be ascertained.

However, that translation was from Sri Rangachari.

Regards,

Malolan
