465) (PraNavam) AnanathAyudha PakshIsa naivEdhyAdhyathva

saadhakAya nama:

 

Salutations to that SadAcharyan, who established that we can

consume the naivEdhyam offered to AdhsEshan, Sri Aayudha PurushAs,

( Paanchajanyam, Sudarsanan) and Garudan !

 

A subsequent Sahasra nAmam will say that we should not consume

the prasAdham offered to other dEvathAs. If so , what should we

do with respect to prasAdhams offered to nithya mukthAs like

AdhisEshan, GaruthmAn et al? The answer is , yes , we can

certainly consume such prasAdhams.There are no special injunctions

like the one , which prohibits us from consuming the prasAdham

offered to VishvaksEnar.When we perform AarAdhanam for PerumAL

with SankAzhwAr and ChakratthAzhwAr , we perform Thirumanjanam

for them as instructed by our AchAryAs;hence partaking of

their prasAdhams is accepted.

 

466)(PraNavam) SEnEsa dhvArapAlAdhi naivEdhyaadhyathva

BaadakAya nama:

 

Salutations to the great AchAryan , who established that

we should not partake the prasAdhams offered to VishvaksEna ,

DhvArapAlakAs and GaNAthipathis like Kumudhan et al !

 

VishvaksEna (SEnai MudaliyAr ) prasAdham should not be consumed

by us although He is a Nithya Mukthar and third in our AchArya

Paramparai . Aagams stress this position. SrI Vangipuram Nampi's

nithya Kaarikai states that the food offered to VishvaksEnar

should be disbursed in pure water of the rivers or pushkaraNis.

That annam is intended for those who sought refuge at

VishvaksEnA's Thiruvadi, who live in PaathALa lOkam (nether.

world). It is VishvaksEnA's command that annam is intended for

those PaathaLa Vaasis , who sought the refuge of His feet.

 

467) (PraNavam) SEnEsa havirAmBhi pakshabhEdha nirUpakAya nama:

 

Salutations to that great AchAryan , who accepted

the preferred view that we can consume the PrasAdham

offered to VishvaksEnar!

 

Swamy Desikan also accepted the reasoning behind the other

point of view that VishvaksEna PrasAdham can be consumed by

us by considering us as members of the VishvaksEna

parivAram . BhOja Raaja has written about this point of

view.We are indeed sishyAs of VishvaksEnar and hence

AchArya prasAdham is perfectly appropriate for us to

consume. Swamy Desikan cited both the views and seems

to prefer this view of acceptance. The acceptance of

PrasAdhams offered to DhwAra PaalakAs and Kumudhan

et al is however prohibited.
