Guest guest
SrI: Dear BhakthAs: There has been a pressing need for postings on the VaikAnasa Aagamam. There is a lot of literature on PaancharAthra Aagamam. Many Famous temples follow VaikAnasa Aagamam ( Oppiliappan sannidhi, ThirukkOvalUr , ThiruvallikkENi, Thirumalai et al). VaikAnasam is on the same level of reverence as PaancharAthram according to our AchAryAs. VaikAnasam is fascinating because of its unique emphasis on some aspects of AarAdhanam and anushtAnam . May I request the scholars on VaikAnasam to come forward and address this information gap? Dr. Mutthu Bhattar of VivEkAnandhA college, Mylapore , Knowledgable bhakthAs at ThiruvallikkENi, Melkote (Sanskrit Academy ) , Kaanchi MadhurAnthakam and Thiumalai are requested to share their knowledge and point out the differences between the two AagamAs. We would also like to develop a full list of the temples following PaancharAthra and VaikAnasa Aagamams among the 108 Dhivya dEsams. a Listing of the Source books on the two Aagamams would also be useful. I will start this process.Ultimately , it would be desirable to have a special web site on these two Aagamaas. I need some volunteers to create this web site. If a group of dedicated bhakthAs based in India could also volunteer to contact the Temple archakAs and Aagama schools and develop this information , it would be a systematic way to acquire this valuable information . SriMan Krishnamachari of Chicago , IL has already posted some welcome articles on PaancharAthra in Bahkthi archives . Please refer to them. I will start the process from here and post some basics on the two Aagamams soon. Let us join in this educational discovery journey about our two Aagamams .
