Please refer to Ahnikagrantham by Srimad Azhagia Singar in poorvasramam, page 165 in the section, " Urdhva puNdara dhAraNa vidhi " . Here, Srimad Azhagiya Singar states, " netriyil, mUkkin adip bAgathhilirundhu thodangi, kEsam uLLa aLavu thirumaN ittkkoLLa vENdum. " " thiruman must be worn on the forehead, starting at the base of the nose bridge and ending upto the hair line. " Further, in page 168, we see the following: " mudhalil pAdhaththai amaiththukkoNdu piRagu valappakkaththu, idappakkatthu kAl (kOdu) kaLai muRaiyE aNiyavENdum. idhu sishtarkaLin anushtAnaththAl aRivadhAgum. " " First, the base must be formed; then, the right side and left side (Lord''s) feet/lines must be worn, respectively. " This is understood from the practice of elder scholars of tradition. " From these it is clear that one must NOT choose to the wear the base later. It must be worn first. This section describes the procedure for wearing 12 thirumaNs in great detail. Please refer to it. -- adiyEn
