Respected Ramanuja Bhaktas,

Many of you may have seen the recently launched web site for the Ramanuja

Society:

www.ramanujasociety.org, but not all of you may be aware of the significance of

the

painting that is located on the home page. This is the image of Bhagavad

Ramanuja

and the Lord Himself, Sriman Narayana, who sits on Ramanuja's right thigh as his

adopted Son - Chelva Pillai - Sampath Kumaran - Ramanuja's own Darling Child.

It is

the mood of the Lord as the Darling Child who serves as the Presiding Deity of

Thirunarayanapuram, or Melkote, as it commonly known. Ramanuja's connection to

the

town and Lord who resides there is elaborately recorded in the history.

Bhagavad Sri Ramanuja himself re-discovered and consecrated both the main temple

form of the Lord, Thirunarayanan, and the processional deity, Sampath Kumaran.

And

it is he who told his disciples that his spirit would forever reside in Melkote

in

service to this Lord.

Indeed, in a unique episode in Vedic tradition, the image of Ramanuja at Melkote

was

consecrated during the time that he was residing on earth per his instructions,

in a

way that would provide everyone with the opportunity to see an exact likeness of

our

Foremost Teacher and Saviour to this day.

The connection and devotion that the residents of Melkote maintain to Bhagavad

Sri

Ramanuja is profound. The presence of the Foremost Teacher and His Adopted Son

is

felt everywhere. It is no doubt the the Uncondtional Grace of Our Foremost

Teacher

that the International Ramanuja Society is blessed to recognize Melkote as its

" spiritual headquarters, " and to have the Sanskrit Insitute that is located as

our

main resource for learning via the CDs and Tapes that are being produced through

its

auspices.

Needless to say, any opportunity to serve the Lord at Melkote would be seen as a

blessing. One such opportunity is being provided by Sri Anand Srinivasan, the

restoration of Sri NammAzhwAr Sannidhi. The details of this project are

attached. I would like to encourage everyone to donate whatever you can to

this

noble cause.
